While in the beginning blogs were created more for personal use, as the internet and businesses develop more and more companies are using blogs to help promote their business, but the basics remain the same.
Whether you have a business blog or a personal one you no doubt want as many people to view it and hopefully interact with it, and you, as possible. There are a few key things to remember when both primarily creating your blog and then promoting it to others.
First and foremost keep your readers in mind; even if you have a blog that is full of nothing more than your personal rants, if you want people to keep coming back you need to make it easy to read and understand. Remember that in this day and age people using the internet will often spend a lot of time just skimming over pages so you need to capture and then keep their interest, the best way to do this is to keep your writing clear and concise, while it doesn’t need to be grammatically ideal (at least for a personal blog) it should at least make sense.
Try to provide useful and important information for your readers, no matter what subject your blog is about if you can give the viewers the information they want or find helpful they will keep coming back for more.
You don’t need to use every technical gadget you come across on your blog; while they all have their individual places a business blog for example may lose some of its professionalism if the readers are subjected to heavy metal music the minute they open the page.
While you are working on your readership base, and trying to gain readers, you are going to find that commenting on blogs that are relevant to yours will surely help. Find a blog that is on the same topic to yours, or close to it and leave comments. You can also make a track back with your blog postings to comment on your own blog. Doing so will probably more than likely give someone else the urge to track back to your blog. This will be good for it as well. Commenting on blogs that get many comments will make your blog seen by those involved in that market. You will gain traffic and readers that way, and it is easy as well as free.
Make your blog as interactive as possible; give your readers the chance to leave comments or feedback, the more reason you can give them to interact with you the more often they will come back; on that note you can also give your viewers the chance to subscribe to your blog so they receive emails when your blog has been updated etc.

While it may be alluring to add a visitor counter, a flashy background, an exciting new font, and a bunch of peculiar animated gifs to your blog, this kind of plan can easily backfire.
There are many free blogging tools on the market, but loading up your blog with all of the free accessories that you can find isn't essentially a good idea.
The key to getting the most from free blog tools is being selective. It is a great idea to learn about all of the kinds of free blogging tools that are available so that you can make an informed decision about what to add to your blog but try to remember that just because you can have something doesn't mean that you need it. Practice command and only choose the options that you think will really be useful. If you can find out how many visitors are reading your blog by checking your traffic statistics, a visitor counter is likely to add needless litter to your page.
If your blog is text-based, a flashy background can be more of a disruption than a benefit. Be practical about assessing what kinds of blog accessories will help you realize your vision and modify your site.
Remember that even a blog tool that doesn't cost you any cash may not be an asset in the long run blogging for Business Owners. If you run a small company, you may find that the world of blogging for business owners is a world that you want to be a part of.
Blogging is a great way to get the word out to consumers about your product or service, and it can even be useful for inspiring employee reliability and helping you keep your workers at peak spirits. If you are looking for a way to take your business to the next level, consider what starting a blog might be able to do for you.
Blogging for business owners has a lot in common with all other types of blogging, but it has its own unique pitfalls and strengths. The key to having a successful blog as a business owner is keeping your goals clear and concrete at every step of your blogging adventure. It can be all to easy to get sidetracked, especially if you are just learning about the thrilling possibilities of blogging technology, but if you want your blog to succeed you need to stay focused.
Write up a plan for how often you will update, how you will promote your blog and retain readers, whether you will feature photographs or video, and other aspects of your blog, and then stick to it with the same kind of determination that you used when you built your company.

The word blog is a shortened version of the term "Web log". Essentially, it is a website, which itself is a collection of Web, or internet pages, images, videos or other digital forms that reside on one or more web servers, which control the images, and are accessible via the internet. A blog is normally set up and run by an individual, and often for his own personal satisfaction. Entries are added to the blog, on a regular basis, in the form of personal anecdotes, descriptions of particular events, together with other material, such as graphics or video, which will enhance the impact and appeal of his posts. The entries themselves are commonly displayed with the first entry being available at the end, and newer entries being added before it. Many blogs provide an ongoing discussion, or act as an update for news on a general or specialised subject. Others, however, function as more of a personal diary that is placed on the internet for possible broader interaction.
A blog’s characteristic structure combines mostly text, and sometimes has additional images. There are some that have links to blogs or other web sites whose content is on similar subjects. An important part of many blogs is the facility whereby readers of the blog are able to leave personal comments and views which can be read by others.
Although most blogs are composed solely of text, their format can be extremely diverse, such as:
Those that have a bias towards art are called artlogs, Those based on photographs are photoblog, Sketch biased ones are sletchblog, Videos are vlog, Music is MP3 blog, Audio is podcasting.
In fact, they are all part of a much wider network, defined as social media.
There is, indeed, yet another form of blogging, called micro blogging. This is very different since it consists of blogs with short or very short entries, another name for this entry being a post.
Technorati is probably the premier search engine associated with blogs.
Video blogging, the most recent innovation, involves the subject expressing his opinion or simply talks about something.
House Blog
A house blog is a particular type of blog that has been established simply to share and discuss, in an ongoing manner, a domestic event such as improving the home, or possibly a complete restoration process.
The idea for such a blog has materialised only within the last few years and has become popular through the interaction of various communities. Most such blogs are instigated and maintained by those who wish to share with the online community the does and dont’s, the pitfalls, the costs and the impact on their family of such home improvement adventures.
The intention of making money is not the driving force. However, some house blogs do sell advertising space, of various kinds, on their sites, or they may be part of an ad network.
Without doubt, the rise in the popularity of house blogs is that of the minimum cost that is involved in setting up and running the site. House bloggers can very quickly and easily create a blog for free. This can be done by using other free services, such as Blogger or Wordpress. In this way, anyone can determine whether their selected niche market could turn out to be a viable proposition.

When asked by interviewer whether he likes teenage girls, Kelly says, 'I don't like anybody illegal.'
In the first — and what he claimed would be his last — interview regarding his recent child-pornography trial, R&B singer R. Kelly sat down with BET News for a special that aired Tuesday, to say he has had been punished enough and that people should respect the not-guilty verdict he received three months ago.
"It's time for me to move on," Kelly told interviewer Touré during "R. Kelly Speaks." "I can't keep answering these questions. If you was charged with something and you was found innocent, then you can't be found guilty for being found innocent."
However, with that statement, Kelly failed to distinguish the difference between not guilty and innocent — no jury has the power to declare anyone innocent, only the power to say that the state did not meet its burden of proof to find someone guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And in this particular case, the members of Kelly's jury still had some doubts. Kelly expected his fans and public to have some doubts as well, but he hoped to overcome them with the interview, in which he claimed his sex-god image was just that, an image — not his real life.
"I wish people wouldn't connect the R. Kelly image — of champagne, girls ... sex, sex, sex — to Robert," Kelly said. "R. Kelly is an image, a brand. That's my job. There's a whole other side of me that's Robert, who is a father, a friend. But then I put on the game face and go into the studio and do the music. That's just another day at the office."
When asked directly if he likes teenage girls, Kelly asked in response, "How old are we talking?" Touré responded, "Girls who are teenagers." Kelly then asked, "Nineteen? I have some 19-year-old fans. I don't like anybody illegal, if that's what you're talking about." (The subject of his annulled marriage to a 15-year-old Aaliyah did not come up.)
(Head here for more questions R. Kelly could have been asked but wasn't.)
Touré countered that some of the singer's former employees (including an assistant and a publicist) and his brother Carey Kelly had raised "issues of concern" in this area. "Issues of concern?" Kelly asked. "What do you mean? Let me put it to you this way, man. People who don't work for me say that. The people who do work for me don't say that. The people who don't work for me were fired. ... Do not listen to the people who was fired. Don't even listen to the people who was hired. Listen to the facts."
But what about his own brother, who could hardly be considered just another disgruntled employee? "Doesn't matter," Kelly said. "I fired him too." Why? "I can't get into that," Kelly said. "But I fired him 1,000 times and I rehired him."
Kelly also claimed that he had been blackmailed, a claim he had made previously when a sex tape purporting to depict him and an underage girl was first made public, only now he said the blackmail attempts happened before, during and after the trial. (Kelly did not specify who had allegedly blackmailed him, but Kelly's own lawyer had dispelled the notion that ex-manager — and Aaliyah's uncle — Barry Hankerson was involved in any such attempt in his interview with MTV News immediately following the verdict.)
"I've been blackmailed a billion times," Kelly said. "I've been sued for ridiculous things. At one point in my life, I was an ATM machine. But I'm used to that. You don't get used to it, but I'm used to the fact that people will do this, even your own family members, and I don't hate none of them. A lot of people are out to get me, especially when I was vulnerable [because of the trial and public scandal]. When you're R. Kelly, they want a piece of you."
Kelly said the ordeal of the trial and the years leading up to it made him feel like he had already been given a guilty verdict. "I feel like I was in jail for the last seven years," he said. "A lot has been taken away from me. Going through that whole thing was hell, man. I wouldn't wish it on nobody."
Now that it's over, he wants to concentrate on his music (which he said would remain sexually explicit), his children (although he didn't mention his estranged wife) and humanitarian efforts. He's planning a trip to Africa — his first.
"I'm trying to put it all together," Kelly said. "I want to get over there not just to tour, but get into doing some humanity stuff. I don't know what that is yet."
Kelly said the trial and scandal experience has taught him a lot, including to be more humble, to be more spiritual and to separate his professional and private life.
"If it had an impact, I hope it to be a positive impact," he said. "If the 12 people who didn't know me, after hearing the facts and listening to everything, could find me innocent, [I hope that] people around the world could do the same thing."

There are many fad diets that promise to help you lose weight in almost no time at all. After two or three weeks on the diet you find yourself losing enough to be able to brag to your family and friends about it, and you're so optimistic that this new lifestyle will be your ticket to a smaller waistline that you start to browse the stores for new clothes.
You continue to lose weight for another couple of weeks, and then something happens: you start to feel sluggish, you begin craving something that your diet absolutely forbids you to have, or the general sense of optimism begins to transform itself into a feeling of constriction, frustration, and even dietary imprisonment.
You decide to have just one snack, or spend just one day eating whatever you want with the intention of going back to the diet the following day. What happens then, is that you feel such satisfaction from that treat that the entire effort falls apart and you put the weight back on in practically no time at all.
Does this scenario sound at all familiar?
Diets are very hard, as is the feeling of being overweight. Many of these fad diets may promise instant and significant weight loss results, but most of them rely on depriving your body of certain nutrients and disrupting the natural function of your body's metabolism. Chinese medicine considers obesity to be partly the result of declining function of the metabolic fire of the kidney network and a diet that provides a well-balanced array of nutrients is the key to losing weight in a healthy way. What follows are five foods that will help you restore your body's ability to use energy and help you become your healthy weight.
1. Millet: A well-balanced diet should consist of whole grains instead of refined grains like white rice and pasta, and millet is a beneficial and delicious staple of this category of food. This non-glutinous grain is over 10-percent protein, has high amounts of fiber and B-complex vitamins, and because it isn't an acid forming food, is easy to digest.
2. Asparagus: When losing weight, it's important to favor chlorophyll-rich foods, including asparagus. Asparagus is a nutrient-rich vegetable packed with folate, vitamins A, C, and K, and fiber. Asparagus also contains a carbohydrate known as inulin (not to be confused with insulin) that promotes healthy bacteria in the large intestine - which in turn promotes a healthier digestive function.
3. Pomegranates: Eating a balanced diet to lose weight should include eating fresh fruits, and pomegranates are a wonderful example of a healthy, nutritious fruit that has antioxidant properties and will help prevent cancer. While the benefits of drinking pomegranate juice have gained a lot of attention recently, you will be more likely to lose weight by eating the fruit fresh to increase your fiber intake and keep the calories down.
4. Pine Nuts: Pine nuts are the edible seeds of pine trees and are considered an essential ingredient in the tasty Italian mixture pesto. Chinese medicine uses pine nuts to improve gastrointestinal tract and digestive functions, and pine nut oil is even used for appetite suppression. Pine nuts and other nuts are a tasty part of a well-balanced diet intended for weight loss.
5. Green Tea: It has been found that consuming large amounts of coffee and caffeine can lead to food cravings, increase one's appetite, and induce stress-related eating. Green tea is a wonderful alternative to coffee in that it does provide a little caffeine but also contains beneficial antioxidants. So drink up!
A healthy diet also includes lean proteins like chicken breast, legumes such as lentils, and other whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. While fad diets may promise a large amount of weight loss in a short period of time, there's almost a guarantee that you will put that weight back on-and then some!
Eat five smaller meals a day, avoid processed foods, chew more slowly, and incorporate more healthy foods into your diet-starting with these five.
I hope this article helps you find foods that can aid in your weight loss goals! I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.
May you live long, live strong, and live happy!

Blog is short of web log and it is similar to online journal. It is a concept that started in the late 90s. It used to be a way to comment an existing web page, which is an opportunity for the publishers, readers, and visitors to interact each other.
Blogging is not a difficult task and anybody with a little bit of computer knowledge and writing skill can start blogging. To start blogging you need to sign up for a free blog site, pick a subject and design, and start writing whatever it is you please. Free Blog Site such as Thoughts.com will provide you with everything you need to know about blogs and how to use them.
In choosing free blog hosting, you have to find a company that can guarantee that they could handle all the web space used by its numerous members. In addition, you also have to determine whether a free blog hosting can handle the traffic that all blogs within its domain generate. Both of these factors could contribute to the level of downtime of your blog site.

Dust and grease, like family members we see frequently but don’t always want to deal with, are two culprits lurking around every corner in my house. I prefer using strategic methods in my ongoing battle against them, but time isn’t always on my side. Instead, I pick an hour over the weekend to arm myself with rubber gloves, two cloth rags, a brush and dustpan, and some spray cleaner. Then I choose my worst t-shirt-and-shorts combo from my closet and load up Madonna’s Confessions from a Dance Floor, turning the bass up high. Once my body’s pumping to the music’s beat, I put my ten speed cleaning tips into action, and whip through my house like the Tasmanian Devil with OCD.
1. Let the Sunshine (and Air) In
Before the dust starts to settle, I open the shades and windows to let in the spring sun and air; then I light a candle and let its aroma take over the house.
2. De-Cluttering Dance
When Madonna tells me to “get ready to jump,” I de-clutter the house by making piles of papers and mail. I make one pile of bills to pay and follow-up correspondence; the second pile is for papers to file away. Then I choose a date on the calendar for getting rid of both piles. This simple act frees up my kitchen counters for the space I need to cook, and keeps my table open for entertaining.
3. Trap the Dust Bunnies
Dust bunnies live in my bedroom and under my furniture, and float along the baseboards, trying to hide. I use my dustpan and a garbage bag to catch the bunnies in each room before they hop away.
4. Ragamuffin Maid
I tuck two rags in my waistband and take my natural cleaner on a tour of my house. Using the two rags, I dust wooden surfaces with one and spray clean the kitchen counters with the other.
5. Handles with Care
I clean every door, cabinet, and sink handle in the house, removing whatever residue any hands have left behind.
6. Kitchen Sponge and Soak
After sweeping away the dust bunnies, it’s time to degrease the oven and soak the sink. Since I tend to go through sponges like toilet paper, I purchased a package of cellulose sponges: one for the kitchen, another for the bathroom, and a third for the toilet. They scrub off caked-on grease from the stove, then join my fruit skins in the compost bin (instead of a landfill) once they’ve run their course.
7. Bathroom Break
My bathroom always requires a weekly touch-up. Using Bon Ami, I sprinkle the sink and bathtub, and then wash them clean with hot water. Finally, I take my toilet sponge and run it over the top of the toilet and seat.
8. Fluff the Pillows
Dust and pet hair accumulate in couch and bed pillows, so get outside and do a little shake.
9. Refrigerator Madness
Since my food seems to expire as quickly as I do (by the end of the week), I go through the fridge and see which vegetables are ready to join my sponges in the compost bin.
10. Sweep and Vacuum—and the Mop Alternative
A quick sweep of kitchen and wood floors will catch the rest of the dust bunnies and dirt. I like to mix my favorite essential oil with baking soda to sprinkle in the carpet and on my rugs, for quick deodorizing before the vacuum comes out to play. And since the only small rooms in my house requiring a mop are my kitchen and bathroom, I take a third rag and use the natural cleaner to spray the floor, then I finish up my speed-cleaning frenzy with barefoot dancing to Madonna’s last track, while the rag and I move across the floor.

Astronomers have taken what may the first picture of a planet orbiting a star similar to the sun.
This distant world is giant (about eight times the mass of Jupiter) and lies far out from its star (about 330 times the Earth-Sun distance). But for all the planet's strangeness, its star is quite like our own sun.
Previously, the only photographed extrasolar planets have belonged to tiny, dim stars known as brown dwarfs. And while hundreds of exoplanets have been detected by noting their gravitational tug on their parent stars, it is rare to find one large enough to image directly.
"This is the first time we have directly seen a planetary mass object in a likely orbit around a star like our sun," said David Lafrenière, an astronomer at the University of Toronto who led the team that discovered the star. "If we confirm that this object is indeed gravitationally tied to the star, it will be a major step forward."
Further study will be needed to prove that the planet is in fact orbiting around the star, as opposed to the possibility, however unlikely, that the two objects just happen to lie in the same area of the sky at roughly the same distance from us.
"Of course it would be premature to say that the object is definitely orbiting this star, but the evidence is extremely compelling," Lafrenière said. "This will be a very intensely studied object for the next few years!"
The researchers used the Gemini North telescope on Mauna Kea in Hawaii to glimpse the planet and its star, 1RXS J160929.1-210524, which lies about 500 light-years from Earth. Though the star has about 85 percent the mass of the sun, it is younger than our star. In order to image the far-flung system, the team utilized adaptive optics technology, which uses flexible mirrors to offset the distortion light suffers as it passes through Earth's atmosphere.
The strange planet so far from its parent star is unexpected based on current theories of star and planet formation. For comparison, the farthest planet in our solar system, Neptune, lies only 30 times the Earth-sun distance away from the sun.
"This discovery is yet another reminder of the truly remarkable diversity of worlds out there, and it's a strong hint that nature may have more than one mechanism for producing planetary mass companions to normal stars," said team member Ray Jayawardhana, also of the University of Toronto.
The distant exoplanet, at about 1,800 Kelvin (about 1,500ºC), is also much hotter than our own Jupiter, which has a temperature of about 160 Kelvin (-110ºC).
The team discovered the new planet as part a survey of more than 85 stars in the Upper Scorpius association, a group of young stars formed about 5 million years ago. The researchers have detailed the study in a paper submitted to the Astrophysical Journal Letters and also posted online.
"This discovery certainly has us looking forward to what other surprises nature has in stock for us," said University of Toronto team member Marten van Kerkwijk.

16 simple yet wildly effective rules to live by for dewy, plump, perfectly smooth skin--no matter what your age.
1. Even if you're sitting in the shade, without sunscreen you're being zapped by aging rays. Sunscreen, (at least SPF30, every day) not only prevents aging, it gives your skin time away from defending itself, so it can actually repair and undo existing damage.
2. There's wet, and then there's wet: If you want any antiager to work better, get your skin very wet. For instance, if you want your face scrub to exfoliate more than usual, do it at the very end of a shower.
3. Always pat eye cream in with your ring finger--it's the weakest, so the most gentle.
Perfect Your Skin: The right regimen makes all the difference, whether you're treating breakouts, wrinkles or redness.
4. Retin-A, Tazorac, Renova: These prescription-only retinoic acid formulas de-age skin like no over-the-counter cream. It takes about six weeks to see results, but the difference in most people is truly spectacular.
5. For some, retinoic acid is too skin-sensitizing. The next strongest thing is available over the counter: retinol. The most powerful retinol we know of is Help Me by Philosophy. If that's too much for you, Healthy Skin by Neutrogena is nonirritating but still extremely effective.
6. Too much sugar in your diet causes glycation--an inflammation and a disruption of collagen production. Avoid eating sweets, and use a product designed to prevent (and undo) the reaction.
7. Your skin does most of its repair-and-refresh work at night. Lack of sleep shows up on your face as dullness initially, graduating to wrinkling, sagging, and even breakouts as you continue to lose sleep.
There are no falsities to this beauty sleep business. A Lucky beauty editor was recently inflicted with mono (and a 1,000 hours of sleep) and reemerged with her most luminous skin ever.
8. Supplements: Who knows if they work? They might, and that's why we take them--especially those with omega-3, -6, and -9 oils. Since none of us can eat as much youthifying salmon as the experts say we should.
9. Cold really does bring down puffiness. Throw your eye cream in the fridge, or use these already-frosty versions.
10. Unanimous editors' rave: More Lucky staffers mentioned Kiehl's when they were queried about their antiaging routines than any other brand. They love the avocado eye cream, the pineapple papaya face scrub, the...

12. Smoking is even better (and faster) at aging your face than the sun.
13. Wind and cold are dehydrating. Moisturizer plumps up your skin, making it look and feel smoother temporarily. We have never met a makeup artist who doesn't apply moisturizer liberally before makeup--it really makes a difference.
14. If you overdo it on skin treatments, anti-inflammatory products like Dr. Brandt's Laser Relief will calm your skin back to normality overnight.
Been a little overzealous with your skin care routine? One Lucky editor suggests this calendula cream as a cure all.
15. Tinted undereye moisturizer is a genius invention. Use it alone if your trouble is not severe, under concealer if it's more major.

Eva Mendes used to force people to kill spiders because she was so scared of them.
‘The Women’ actress suffered from arachnophobia – a profound fear of spiders – as a child and was so terrified of the eight-legged nasties she would ask her family to execute them if one came near her.
She would then insist on being shown the “dead carcass” of the arachnid to prove her wishes has been carried out.
Eva said: “Spiders scare me a lot, ever since I was a little girl. If I ever saw one I would have a physical reaction and just freak out. I was a real arachnophobe. I was like that up until about a year ago.
“If I saw a spider I would have to have somebody kill it and even then I could not take their word for it. I would have to see the dead carcass before I could relax.”
The 34-year-old actress – who admits her fear became so bad she would not even sleep in a room if she had seen a spider there - decided to visit a hypnotherapist to overcome the phobia.
She said: “There was no swaying clock or anything like that - so I was disappointed by that. I do not know what she did but it really helped because now I will see one and I will be cool with it.”
Eva added she was so pleased with the outcome of the treatment she is contemplating re-visiting her hypnotist.
She joked: “Now I want to do it for everything. I was thinking can she help me with road rage or snacking or foul language? It is amazing.”

NEW YORK - When Wall Street woke up Monday morning, two more of its storied firms had fallen.
Lehman Brothers, burdened by $60 billion in soured real-estate holdings, filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after attempts to rescue the 158-year-old firm failed. Bank of America Corp. said it is snapping up Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. in a $50 billion all-stock transaction.
The demise of the independent Wall Street institutions came as shock waves from the 14-month-old credit crisis roiled the U.S. financial system six months after the collapse of Bear Stearns.
The world's largest insurance company, American International Group Inc., also was forced into a restructuring.
And a global consortium of banks, working with government officials in New York, announced a $70 billion pool of funds to lend to troubled financial companies.
The aim, according to participants who spoke to The Associated Press, was to prevent a worldwide panic on stock and other financial exchanges.
Ten banks — Bank of America, Barclays, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS — each agreed to provide $7 billion "to help enhance liquidity and mitigate the unprecedented volatility and other challenges affecting global equity and debt markets."
The Federal Reserve also chipped in with more largesse in its emergency lending program for investment banks. The central bank announced late Sunday that it was broadening the types of collateral that financial institutions can use to obtain loans from the Fed.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the discussions had been aimed at identifying "potential market vulnerabilities in the wake of an unwinding of a major financial institution and to consider appropriate official sector and private sector responses."
The European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and the Swiss central bank also made more short-term credit available to banks. European stocks fell sharply, with the FTSE 100 Index off 3.42 percent in London, the CAC-40 down 4.27 percent in Paris, and Germany's blue-chip DAX 30 falling 3.38 percent. Asian stock markets also tumbled, with India's Sensex sinking more than 5 percent. Japan and Hong Kong were closed for holidays.
Financial stocks were hard hit and the dollar fell against the pound and the euro.
Futures pegged to the Dow Jones industrial average fell more than 250 points in electronic trading Sunday evening, pointing to a sharply lower open for the blue chip index Monday morning. Asian stock markets also tumbled, with India's Sensex sinking more than 5 percent. Japan and Hong Kong were closed for holidays.
The stunning weekend developments took place as voters, who rank the economy as their top concern, prepare to elect a new president in seven weeks. It likely will spur a much greater focus by presidential candidates — Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama — and members of Congress on the need for stricter financial regulation.
Samuel Hayes, finance professor emeritus at Harvard Business School, said the Bush administration may get a lot of blame for the situation, which could benefit Obama.
"Just the psychological impact of this kind of failure is going to be significant," he said. "It will color people's feelings about their well-being and the integrity of the financial system."
Lehman Brothers' announcement that it is filing for bankruptcy came after all potential buyers walked away. Potential suitors were spooked by the U.S. Treasury's refusal to provide any takeover aid, as it had done six months ago when Bear Stearns faltered and earlier this month when it seized Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Employees emerging from Lehman's headquarters near the heart of Times Square Sunday night carried boxes, tote bags and duffel bags, rolling suitcases, framed artwork and spare umbrellas. Many were emblazoned with the Lehman Brothers name. Its businesses in Britain were placed in administration Monday, said the administrator, accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, and employees carrying boxes and bags were walking out of Lehman's London offices.
TV trucks lined Seventh Avenue opposite the building, while barricades at the building's main entrance attempted to keep workers and onlookers from gumming up the steady flow of pedestrians flowing in and out of Times Square.
Some workers had moist eyes while a few others wept and shared hugs. Most who left the building quietly declined interviews.
People snapped pictures with cameras and their phones. Observers pressed up against a police barricade drew the ire of one man who emerged from the building and shouted: "Are you enjoying watching this? You think this is funny?"
Merrill Lynch, another investment bank laid low by the crisis that was triggered by rising mortgage defaults and plunging home values in the U.S., agreed to be acquired by Bank of America for 0.8595 shares of Bank of America common stock for each Merrill Lynch common share.
That values Merrill at $29 a share, a 70 percent premium over the brokerage's Friday closing price of $17.05, but well below what Merrill was worth at its peak in early 2007, when its shares traded above $98.
Charlotte, N.C.,-based Bank of America has the most deposits of any U.S. bank, while Merrill Lynch is the world's largest brokerage. A combination of the two would create a global financial giant to rival Citigroup Inc., the biggest U.S. bank in terms of assets.
Strategically, most industry analysts say it's a good fit. If the deal goes according to plan, Bank of America will be able to offer Merrill's retail brokerage services to its huge customer base. There is not a great deal of overlap between the two companies — Bank of America does have an investment bank already, but it has never been terribly strong.
Where there is duplication, however, the combination of the two companies could result in more layoffs. Both Merrill and Bank of America have already cut thousands of investment banking jobs over the past year.
The deal would not come without risks, however. Merrill Lynch, like many of its Wall Street peers, has been struggling with tight credit markets and billions of dollars in assets tied to mortgages that have plunged in value. Merrill has reported four straight quarterly losses.
Bank of America's own finances are far from robust. As consumer credit deteriorates, the bank has seen its profits decline, and the company is still in the midst of absorbing the embattled mortgage lender Countrywide Financial, which it acquired in January.
Insurer AIG, hit hard by deterioration in the credit markets, said Sunday it is reviewing its operations and discussing possible options with outside parties to improve its business after a week when its stock dropped 45 percent amid concerns about the company's financial underpinnings.
The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times both reported early Monday on their Web sites that the American International Group is seeking an additional $40 billion in emergency funds — possibly from the Federal Reserve — to help it avoid a credit rating downgrade, which would make it more expensive for AIG to raise money. The insurer has already raised $20 billion in fresh capital this year.
AIG was working with New York Insurance Superintendent Eric Dinallo and a representative of the governor's office through the weekend to craft a solution that protects policyholders, according to Dinallo's spokesman David Neustadt.
"It's clear we're one step away from a financial meltdown," said Nouriel Roubini, chairman of the consulting firm RGE Monitor.
The meetings that began Friday night were a who's who of financial heavyweights: Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, Timothy Geithner, president of the New York Fed, Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox, and a host of CEOs, including Vikram Pandit of Citigroup Inc., Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase & Co., John Mack of Morgan Stanley, Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs Group Inc., and Merrill Lynch & Co.'s John Thain.
For all their efforts, Lehman had to file for bankruptcy.
The end of Lehman may not stop the financial crisis that has gripped Wall Street for months, analysts said. More investment banks could disappear soon.
The independent broker-dealers "are going the way of the dodo bird," said Bert Ely, an Alexandria, Va.,-based banking consultant.
That's partly because some of the firms, particularly Merrill, made bad bets on real estate. But several analysts said that investment companies will need the deep pockets of commercial banks to survive the next few years.
On Sunday, there was also an emergency trading session being held at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association to "reduce risk associated with a potential Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. bankruptcy." The ISDA, which arranges trades for derivatives, said it was allowing customers to make trades and unwind positions linked to Lehman.
Roubini said it's difficult to accurately gauge the health of companies like Merrill because their financial health depends on how they value complex securities. As a result, their finances aren't very transparent, he said.
That can lead to a loss of confidence in the financial markets, he said, which can overwhelm an investment bank even if it is financially healthy by some measures.
"Once you lose confidence, the fundamentals matter less," he said.
The common denominator of the financial crisis, analysts said, is the bursting of the housing bubble. Home prices have dropped on average 25 percent so far. Roubini predicted they could drop another 15 percent.
The crisis has begun to slow the broader economy as banks make fewer loans and consumers have begun cutting spending. Many economists are now forecasting that the economy could slip into recession by the end of this year and early next year.
That, in turn, could cause additional losses for commercial banks on credit cards, auto loans and student loans.
The Fed is widely expected to keep interest rates steady at 2 percent, below inflation, when it meets Tuesday. It was possible, however, that the central bank might decide in coming weeks to cut rates if such a move is seen as needed to calm turbulent financial markets.
The International Monetary Fund predicted earlier this year that total losses from the credit crisis could reach almost $1 trillion. So far, banks have only taken about $350 billion in losses.
Commercial banks are also starting to feel the pinch. Eleven have closed so far this year, including Pasadena, Calif.-based IndyMac Bank, which had $32 billion in assets and $19 billion in deposits.
Christopher Whalen, managing director of Institutional Risk Analytics, a research firm, predicts that approximately 110 banks with $850 billion in assets could close by next July. That's out of 8,400 federally insured institutions, he said, which together hold $13 trillion in assets.
Individual customers are starting to get nervous about the financial health of their banks for the first time in generations, he said. Whalen's firm analyzes the safety and soundness of banks for business clients, but began receiving inquiries from individuals in the past two months for the first time, he said.
"If we don't get ahead of this, we are going to face a run on the retail banks by election day," he said.

The writer David Foster Wallace was found dead at his home in Claremont, California on Friday evening. His wife told authorities that he hung himself.
There have always been two fairly well-populated camps of opinion about Wallace and his work.
There are those who consider him brilliant and perhaps the most important literary figure of his generation. And there are those who find him unreadable.
Cases can be made for both schools of thought.
But whatever you think, it's hard to deny that Wallace's was a unique voice in a literature that has grown somewhat homogeneous in the past decade. Whatever you might think about his opus, Infinite Jest, Wallace's work within shorter forms, in stories and essays, more often then not succeeded in blending absurdest observation with insightful comments on our culture and the way we live now.
And since this is a travel blog, I'll mention my favorite piece of Wallace writing, his hysterical lampooning of cruises and those who take them in the essay "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again." It's a masterwork of reporting and as a piece of travel writing -- which it most certainly is -- it's an example of just what the genre is capable of if given an imaginative writer bent on breaking new ground.
I just took his essay collection of the same name off the bookshelf and want to re-read the piece this afternoon as a sort of quiet tribute. For this essay alone I'll miss Wallace.

As fancy as the term "blog" sounds, it's actually just a website that uses a content management system. While most blog software is more search engine friendly out of the box than many web sites, the opportunities for blog optimization are readily available.
Here are 10 tricks that will increase your visibility in search engines and eventually drive more traffic to your blog.
1) Use keywords in your blog post titles - This is a given for SEO. Most blogging software uses the post title as the url so take advantage of it.
Example: "10 SEO Tricks to Attract More Traffic to your Blog - Search Engine Journal" Search Engine Journal is included on every blog post title tag automatically.
2) Optimize your blog categories - When you create categories for your blog, be sure to use keywords in the titles. When you post, be sure to default to a general category that is relevant no matter what the post is about. Choose multiple categories on each post when appropriate. This will create a "SEO-friendly" url for each post you make.
3) Syndicate your blog - Make it easy for people to subscribe to your blog. Sign-up with a free service like Feedburner and then create a "syndication" area on your site.
4) Offer RSS to email. Anywhere from 10% to 40% of your blog traffic can come from individuals that perfer to read blog posts via email. RSS readers and aggregators can be confusing. Adding email services to your blog isn't. There are several free services available for this including: FeedBlitz, Squeet, and Zookoda.
5) Ping blog search engines - This can be configured with blog software such as Movable Type or WordPress to work automatically. If you're using Blogger.com, then you can do this manually with Pingomatic.com or Pingoat.com.
6) Make comments on other blogs. Your name will be linked to the blog url that you enter. Don't make comments that offer no value to the blog post. Don't use keywords in the field for your name, use your name or blog name.
7) Submit your blog directories. Also submit the blog to regular directories such as (DMOZ, JoeAnt, GoGuides, Google Blog Search, etc) that have categories for blogs.
8) Targeted advertising - Now this doesn't really drive traffic to your site but will make you money. It's possible by using Google AdSense to display highly targeted ads on your blog. Once you've setup an account and placed the ads on your site, just sit back and watch the cash come in. Cha-ching.
9) Snatch up hot keywords - Now before you place ads on your blog, be sure your keyword density is good for the right terms. A great tool to improve your traffic for high-paying keywords is to use a product called Keyword Elite
10) Use track backs - If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site. A TrackBack is a mechanism used in a blog to show, around an entry, a list of other blogs that refer to it.
Summary The important thing to remember is that no matter how many optimization tactics you employ with a blog, there is no substitute for quality content. Blog optimization is only as effective as the quality and usefulness of the content you're optimizing. So do not limit yourself to tips and lists. Use your imagination and you will come up with thousands of ways to drive traffic to your blog! As fancy as the term "blog" sounds, it's actually just a website that uses a content management system. While most blog software is more search engine friendly out of the box than many web sites, the opportunities for blog optimization are readily available.

If you have a website then you already know the importance of traffic. Traffic is to Internet marketing as location is to real estate. It's the only thing that really matters. If you cannot generate targeted visitors to your site, you will not make any sales.
Usually the owner or designer of the website is the person designated to drive traffic to the site. The chief ingredient in generating traffic is the search engine. Of coarse, you can use advertising, but it's going to cost you. Using the search engines to generate targeted (interested in your product) traffic is the least expensive method known.
Unfortunately, many website owners do not understand the importance of search engine visibility, which leads to traffic. They place more importance on producing a "pretty" website. Not that this is bad, but it is really secondary to search engine placement. Hopefully, the following list of common mistakes, made by many website owners, will help you generate more targeted traffic to your site...after all, isn't that what you want.
1. Not using keywords effectively.
This is probably one of the most critical areas of site design. Choose the right keywords and potential customers will find your site. Use the wrong ones and your site will see little, if any, traffic.
2. Repeating the same keywords.
When you use the same keywords over and over again (called keyword stacking) the search engines may downgrade (or skip) the page or site.
3. Robbing pages from other websites.
How many times have you heard or read that "this is the Internet and it's ok" to steal icons and text from websites to use on your site. Don't do it. Its one thing to learn from others who have been there and another to outright copy their work. The search engines are very smart and usually detect page duplication. They may even prevent you from ever being listed by them.
4. Using keywords that are not related to your website.
Many unethical website owners try to gain search engine visibility by using keywords that have nothing at all to do with their website. They place unrelated keywords in a page (such as "sex", the name of a known celebrity, the hot search topic of the day, etc.) inside a Meta tag for a page. The keyword doesn't have anything to do with the page topic. However, since the keyword is popular, they think this will boost their visibility. This technique is considered spam by the search engines and may cause the page (or sometimes the whole site) to be removed from the search engine listing.
5. Keyword stuffing.
Somewhat like keyword stacking listed above, this means to assign multiple keywords to the description of a graphic or layer that appears on your website by using the "alt=" HTML parameter. If the search engines find that this text does not really describe the graphic or layer it will be considered spam.
6. Relying on hidden text.
You might be inclined to think that if you cannot see it, it doesn't hurt. Wrong.... Do not try to hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them invisible. For example, some unethical designers my set the keywords to the same color as the background of the web page; thereby, making it invisible.
7. Relying on tiny text.
This is another version of the item above (relying on hidden text). Do not try to hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them tiny. Setting the text size of the keywords so small that it can barely be seen does this.
8. Assuming all search engines are the same.
Many people assume that each search engine plays by the same rules. This is not so. Each has their own rule base and is subject to change anytime they so desire. Make it a point to learn what each major search engine requires for high visibility.
9. Forgetting to check for missing web page elements.
Make sure to check every page in your website for completeness, like missing links, graphics, etc. There are sites on the web that will do this for free.
This is just a few of the methods and techniques that you should avoid. Do not give in to the temptation that these methods will work for you. They will do more harm than good for your website.
Not only will you spend weeks of wasted effort, you may have your site banned from the search engines forever. Invest a little time to learn the proper techniques for increasing search engine visibility and your net traffic will increase.

Affiliate marketing programs are perfect for those people who are motivated and self starters. They are also great for those who want to set their own working hours.
The internet has helped us change so many aspects of our lives. We can study and work from home with the help of a computer and high speed internet access. However, there are unfortunately lots of scammers out there ready to take either your money or your work to use for their benefit. Many of these email scam programs and work at home schemes have little hope of amounting to any kind of living.
Unfortunately, these scammers have made their way into the world of affiliate marketing as well. There are some excellent affiliate marketing programs to get involved with; the trick is how to spot the scammers.
The face and manner of the internet and affiliate marketing is constantly changing. This makes it very difficult to produce a definitive list of do’s and don’ts. However, there are some signs that one can look for. If your company displays any of these signs it does not mean for sure that they are con artists. However, it should warrant further investigation.
An affiliate marketing program should always provide you with some support. This can include an agent that you can contact with questions or problems. A legitimate company should want you to do well. The better you do the better they do. It should at very least contain a toll free phone number, email address and fixed street address. If your company is an online affiliate marketing program, the lack of an email or web page should definitely raise some red flags. Other things such as no phone or address do not mean necessarily that they are trying to scam you. However, you need to investigate them with a fine tooth comb.
A good test is to send the company an email with some basic questions. If it takes them weeks to get back to you then you need to give this venture careful consideration. Again, they may not be out to con you but if they are poor at communication, this could be a sign of other internal problems.
If the company has no website then you should consider something else. Legitimate affiliate marketing programs generally have a detailed website with all the information you need. One should be suspicious of companies that operate only by email. A website is fairly easy to create so why hasn’t this company invested the time to do so? Also, a website leaves a bit more of a trail to a company. If they do end up scamming you, the chances of tracing the people via a website are much better then tracing them through masses of email addresses.
Many of us would love the opportunity to work for ourselves. We would love to chuck in the day job and start our own businesses. However, the costs of starting a business combined with the risk involved stop most of us before we even get started. Affiliate marketing is a great way to make some money by working for yourself.
The costs are none and the risk minimal. One needs to use some caution when signing onto a program. Make sure there is adequate support available to you. Make sure the company is contactable and that they answer queries in a timely fashion. Be incredibly cautious of companies that have no website. These factors do not always mean that the company is out to scam you; however they should be looked at carefully.

There are many opportunities to choose from these days. After I was released from my employer I was like many other people searching for a way to support my family. I almost gave up when I decided to look for a "work from home base business." After all, I was able to be at home when the children came home from school each day. After thinking about it for a while, my mind was made up and I was gonna go for it. Not knowing anything about running a business, I jumped in head first and got the shock of my life.
When I found my home base business I was expecting to get payed on friday the way that I had gotten use to. Forgetting that I was on my own now was a scary feeling, however, I learned very quickly how valuable time really was. Here are 3 things that I found out immediately:
Procrastination
There is no time to procrastinate if you want a work from home base business. Delaying a task could be the difference between eating or not eating. This is when I took my business serious! I realized that when there was work to be done there was no time for delay. This is the reason why you should have a plan written out each day of the week. There has been many opportunities lost because of procrastination.
Scheduling
It is vital to make a schedule. Having a list of details will keep you focused on the day at hand. It is a good habit to have this filled out the day before. When you wake up to start your day, your plans will already be in place for you. It is easy to get distracted because of incoming emails and so forth. Checking your emails at the beginning of your day and again as you take breaks work for some. However, others start off checking their emails and get lost for hours clicking around getting nothing done. This is why you should have a schedule if you decide to have a work from home base business.
Persistent
Without endurance there is no need to pursue a career such as this. Much of your time will be spent laying a foundation for the future. Being persistent do have its benefits. Many people are now enjoying the fruit of their labor from the seeds that was planted years before. If you endure, you will receive the rewards also. Every day could be just one step toward your goals. Being persistent is not something that is learned in a week or two. This is a continued process that never ends.
It was not easy when I first started my home based business. But as I began to follow these 3 steps, things started to become easier each day. I would wake up early and not procrastinate. Then I would follow the schedule for that day to keep me on track. By being persistent everyday, there was no way I could lose. You can have that same success if you never give up.

EBooks are the wave of the future, and that wave is right here and right now. They are not meant to replace paper books and in most cases, they are cheaper than paper books. EBooks are virtual electronic books that are displayed on a computer or handheld viewing device. They are ordered online, and delivered electronically to you. EBooks are usually PDF files, which can be read by Adobe Acrobat Reader. They are ageless and won't fall apart, burn, crumble, mildew, or rot.
EBooks are files that you can download to your computer for immediate reading and are available in every category and genre, from bestsellers to classics. They are easily updated and upgraded, rapidly distributed online, are environmentally friendly, and can be shipped immediately. Because of their viral nature, eBooks are a great way to increase traffic to a website.
EBooks are quickly becoming an important alternative to paper books and thousands of eBooks are downloaded every day. Most are sold with bonuses and other related information that usually don't come with the purchase of a traditional book. Most are in Word and PDF formats. Sometimes they
Any Internet Business owner can use eBooks as a powerful tool to grow their business. They are a great way to sell, advertise or self-publish your website, expertise, product, or service. Because they are portable, you can have an entire digital library of books, magazines and reports with you on your laptop or portable eBook device. In fact, eBooks are great anytime and any place, because anyone can enjoy them on the devices they already own or carry with them.
Everyone should write at least one eBook because they cost little or nothing to make and are a great way to increase your income. Even if you don't have your own eBook yet, you can still make money by selling other peoples eBooks.

Introduction
So you want to download all the best selling “Guru” eBooks for FREE huh?
Well, fortunately for you I am not a so called Guru so I don’t need to “prove” to you that my over-priced, over-hyped eBook is going to make you rich!
Instead I’m just going to get straight to the point and show you want you need to know ☺
In this first section I’m going to show you how to download tons of top quality products for free.
How to Download:
Each product is listed below. Simply click on the link to download whatever you like!
Most of the files are hosted on file sharing sites such as Rapid Share, Mega Upload, Media Fire etc.
When you first use these services to download it may seem a little confusing to you, please note that you may be asked to register in order to download from some of these websites. When registering always choose the “free” option when asked which service you want. When using Rapid Share, you simply need to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “free” you will then have to wait anything from 30 seconds to an hour before you can download the file. How long you have to wait depends on how many files you have downloaded today. The more you have downloaded the longer the wait. If the wait is too long, try again in an hour or two. Once the waiting time has finished, you will need to enter the verification code shown on screen and then the file will begin downloading.
With Mega Upload, you simply need to enter the verification code shown on the top right of the screen and then wait a short while. Usually less than a minute before your download will start.
At the time of writing, all of the links were live and active. However, over time they may become dead or deleted. If you find a link that is dead, you may want to visit the following sites to find an alternative link:
http://www.wickedfire.com/
http://www.wickedfire.com/ebooks/
http://forum.astalavista.ms/
http://warezrepublic.blogspot.com/
Also, be sure to read the rest of the eBook as it details the techniques I used to find each product. You can apply these techniques to any product, both now and in the future and get almost any eBook or Software absolutely FREE too!
Please note: Some of these files are available as .zip files. Once downloaded, you will need to extract them to access the products. You can get an evaluation copy of Winzip for free by visiting: http://www.winzip.com/index.htm
This version is a trial only but don’t worry, you can continue to use the program to extract files.
Enjoy ☺

Total Value: $12,000+
Not bad for a $27 eBook!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, those “values” are not made up like the figures you read about in those Guru eBooks, they are the actually prices that the products are selling for right now. You can check that out yourself as the sales page for each product is listed below.
So there you have it!
Tons of top Guru products for you to download, worth a total value of over $12,000!
Over the next few chapters I’m going to teach you how you can find more products to download for free, both now and in the future.
So keep reading…
.pdf Hack
This hack is designed find eBooks only, the theory is quite simple;
All Guru eBooks are written as .pdf files.
We can use search engines to find .pdf files, either stored on the author’s website or on someone else’s server.
For this hack we will need to use;
www.google.com and/or
www.yahoo.com
If we can’t find the title we are looking for on Google then try Yahoo.
Guessing the eBook’s name:
What we need to do first is find out what the author has named the .pdf file. This is usually fairly easy as the Guru’s don’t tend to be too creative with their titles, after all they are too busy “making millions” to worry about things like that ☺
Let’s say we are searching for the best selling eBook “Blogging to the Bank”.
The first title we should try is: bloggingtothebank.pdf
If that didn’t work we could try the same title but with spaces between each word, I.e. blogging to the bank.pdf
If none of those worked then we would try further variations, such as;
• With hyphen between words -- blogging-to-the-bank.pdf
• hyphen between words -- bloggingtothebank.pdf
• With quote- "blogging to the bank.pdf"
• With quote but without space -- "bloggingtothebank.pdf"
• With +sign before the name of the ebook -- +bloggingtothebank.pdf
• With +sign and with spaces -- +blogging to the bank.pdf
With this particular eBook, the first example; bloggingtothebank.pdf found an immediate result when searching for it on Google, we are looking for a search result that has a URL ending in .pdf. See below:
There is a further variation of this Hack which sometimes produces results, let’s assume we are looking for “Blogging to the Bank” again.
We would go to Google and/or Yahoo and type in;
index.of bloggingtothebank.pdf
It’s important that you remember to add the full stop after the word “index”.
You can also try it with quotation marks, i.e. index.of “bloggingtothebank.pdf”
This technique can sometimes find you eBooks that the first technique can’t!
Enjoy ☺
Be aware of:
Any site that has the word “warez” in it, these sites are supposedly places to get all sorts of “hacked” software, movies, eBooks etc. However, in my experience, if you do visit them all you are likely to get is a virus or spyware installed on your computer. So avoid them.
Also, ensure your computer is running anti-virus/spyware software and scan any file you download BEFORE opening it.
Site Directory Hack
This technique is by far the most powerful technique and consistently produces the best results, learn it well as you will use it often ☺
With this technique, we are going to instruct our search engine, such as Google to list all of the pages related to one particular site. Let’s assume we are looking for the eBook “Adwords Elite” we know that the website for this eBook is: http://www.adwordselite.com
So we should open up Google and/or yahoo and type in: site:http://www.adwordselite.com
This instructs Google/Yahoo to show all of the pages related to this website and that will often include the download/thank you page. See our example, “Adwords Elite” below:
Here’s another example, this time “Guru Slayer”
This hack has proven to be easily the most effective and has allowed me to download hundreds of eBooks.
It does sometimes require you to go through lots of search engine results (depending on how many pages the website in question has) to find the right page, but its well worth it.
You should also be aware that if a site is brand new, it may take a couple of months before it is completely indexed by the search engines. So there you have it, incredibly simple but immensely powerful. Try it yourself!
Torrent Hack
If you are unfamiliar with BitTorrent I suggest you read the other eBook that came with this product. It’s called “How To Download Almost Anything For Free” and is a guide to Torrents which I also wrote.
This eBook will provide you with everything you need to know to use the Torrent network to download not only eBooks, but also Movies, Software, Games and lots more for free. Once, you understand how BitTorrent works you can use search engines to find almost anything you want!
BitTorrent is particularly good for finding software products. Often software is protected much better than eBooks are and they use smart technology to stop unauthorised usage. For this reason we often need what is known as “cracked software” or a software “crack”. This is when a (very nice ☺) person has gone to the trouble of hacking the code that the software is written and making it usable for us.
I managed to download the eBook “Affiliate Project X” through the BitTorrent network. I simply typed “affiliate project x torrent” into Google and here was the result:
Another easy find!
A variation of this technique is to add the word “forum” onto the end of the search term. There are lots of forums on the subject of Torrents and you can sometimes find download links in them. I managed to find “Keyword Elite” software through this technique, Keyword Elite is a very expensive, very profitable and very well protected tool, so this was a great find. See below:
Forums to Checkout:
http://www.wickedfire.com/ - This forum is excellent for finding links for a variety of products, you can even request that a certain product be uploaded for you.
They also have a section where they host top quality eBooks for you to download directly, the eBooks are hosted at: http://www.wickedfire.com/ebooks/
http://forum.astalavista.ms/ - Another good forum that is well worth checking out.
Another excellent site to find what you are looking for is: http://warezrepublic.blogspot.com/
Remember, be wary of:
Any site that has the word “warez” in it, these sites are supposedly places to get all sorts of “hacked” software, movies, eBooks etc. However, in my experience, if you do visit them all you are likely to get is a virus or spyware installed on your computer. So avoid them.
Also, ensure your computer is running anti-virus/spyware software and scan any file you download BEFORE opening it.
Sorry to repeat myself, but for your own protection pay attention to the above warning, I can accept no responsibility for your PC dying of a nasty virus
.zip Search Hack
This technique is ideal for finding software and eBooks that are stored as .zip files. This is often the way that eBook/Software sellers will distribute their products so it can be a very useful technique.
You will need to use the following site: http://www.alexa.com/site/devcorner/zip
The great thing about this site is that it will allow us to search the Internet for .zip files by name. So assuming we can guess the name of the product’s .zip file we can find it extremely quickly and easily. Very cool ☺
Here’s an example of how I found the Software “Submit Equalizer”:
And here’s another one, this time “Press Equalizer”;
More easy pickings for us!
Paypal Hack
This hack is used to obtain eBooks from sellers who use Paypal as their payment processor.
This will only work if Payal is being used as the direct payment processor, it won’t work in cases where Paypal is being used through another vendor, such as Clickbank.
This technique is ideal for targeting the smaller eBook sellers, such as though who sell on eBay etc. Go to the seller’s website and find the product you are looking for, can you see a Paypal button? This is normally at the bottom of the page and may say something “Buy Now”, or “Click Here To Purchase” etc.
Next, click on the “View” tab at the top of your web browser screen (next to “Edit” and “Favourites” if you are using Internet Explorer”) and then select source.
A Notepad document will open, containing the html code for the web page you are viewing.
You are looking for a segment of code which reads:

While thinking of what to blog yesterday, I remembered Jess Caigoy "The Master of Pain" visited here in our Place and did amazing stunts. I remembered about
the bottle that he broke using only his hand. I searched youtube about it, on how to break a bottle of beer using only your hand. And I saw this video, a nice tutorial: And after watching the video, I tried it. I filled up the bottle with 75% of water and tried to break it. Hehe. It’s very easy. Try it too!!!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - If you live in Miami, consider yourself among the most attractive people in the United States.
The Sunshine State's metropolis has the most beautiful people, according to an online survey of "America's Favorite Cities" by Travel + Leisure magazine, while Philadelphia came in last at No. 25.
"I'm not surprised at all, but I'm not in that group" joked Bill Talbert, president of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, about the city's attractive people rating.
"When you're here, you kind of take it for granted. Then you travel, and when you come back you say, 'Oh my, look what we have here,"' he added.
Although Philadelphia placed last for the second consecutive year, a tourism official said the city was happy to be in the top 25.
The online survey of 125,000 people ranked 25 U.S. cities in 45 categories ranging from most affordable to friendliest people.
Las Vegas and New Orleans took the top spots as best city for a wild weekend, and Washington, D.C., was voted tops for historical sites/monuments. But Los Angeles residents may have a problem with being ranked last in the friendliest people and most intelligent people categories.
If you want friendly, you can't do any better than Charleston, South Carolina, and if you're looking for the smartest locals, head to Seattle, Washington, according to the survey.
New York received the most No.1 ratings, getting top marks for shopping, arts, diverse residents and skyline. But the Big Apple limped in last for peace and quiet and affordability.
The poll showed San Antonio, Texas, takes the smallest bite out of your budget and is the most affordable city, while peace and quiet is easiest found in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which also came in last in all nightlife categories.
Portland, Oregon, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Austin, Texas, took the gold, silver and bronze in the cleanest city competition, while New Orleans had the most work to do in keeping things tidy.
"We were really excited to see how some of the smaller cities took center stage," said Travel + Leisure editor Stirling Kelso.
"Portland again did very well, ranking high in environmental awareness, outdoor life and public transportation."
Kelso said the accessibility of a city, largely through its good public transportation services, will often result in higher survey rankings.
"New York and Washington are very accessible and did well. We were surprised with Los Angeles' low rankings, but perhaps that's because it's not a really accessible city," she added.
Honolulu topped the field in best for a romantic escape and best weather. Theme-park rich Orlando in Florida was voted best for a family vacation while Las Vegas came in last in the category.

BEIJING (AFP) - Los Angeles-bound guard Sun Yue has said he does not want to be known as "China's Magic Johnson" as he seeks a spot on the Laker's roster, but is happy to be known as the "Monkey King."
Sun is expected to depart for the Laker's training camp as soon as the US Embassy here issues his visa, and he is confident that he can make a roster that is led by superstars Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.
"I don't want to be called the next Magic Johnson," Sun told the China Daily of the nickname given him to by the Chinese sporting press.
"He was a great player, and he has everything you could ask for in a coach but I don't think I am going to pattern my game after him in my rookie year," he said of the legendary player and Lakers part-owner.
The 23-year-old Sun was signed by Los Angeles to a multi-year contract after he helped China to an eighth place finish at the Beijing Olympics, averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 assists a game.
The six-foot-eight inch (2.06 metre) guard was originally selected by the Lakers in the second round of the 2007 NBA draft, but was not given a contract or an invitation to training camp last year.
Already Chinese fans in Los Angeles are calling him "Sun Wukong," after the mythical "Monkey King," the legendary simian hero of the Chinese Buddhist literary classic "Journey to the West."
"If they want to name me after the fighting Buddhist master then I guess that will make me a bit more literary," Sun told journalists.
"For the fans to already have these kinds of plans (to name me Monkey King) is really great support for me."

Environmental and food sensitivities are usually the result of leaky gut syndrome. The prevalence of these sensitivities is more widely recognized today than in the past; 24 percent of American adults claim they have food and environmental sensitivities.
These sensitivities, also called delayed hypersensitivity reactions, differ from true food allergies, also called Type I or immediate hypersensitivity reactions. True food allergies are rare occurrences. They affect 0.3 to 7.5 percent of children and 1 to 2 percent of adults.
The foods that most often trigger these reactions are eggs, cow’s milk, nuts, shellfish, soy, wheat, and white fish. Food allergies trigger reaction of type IgE antibodies that bind to the offending food antigens. The IgE antibodies attach to mast cells that stimulate the release of cytokines and histamines.
This results in closing of the throat, fatigue, tearing, hives, itching, respiratory distress, watery or runny nose, skin rashes, itchy eyes or ears, and sometimes severe reactions of asthma and anaphylactic shock. These symptoms occur within minutes after the food is eaten and people usually know what they are (hives or difficulty breathing).
Physicians diagnose food allergies through the use of patch skin tests and RAST (radioallergosorbent test) blood testing, which are great for testing for food allergies but do not accurately determine food sensitivities. Sensitivity reactions, also called delayed or hidden hypersensitivities, occur when IgA, IgG, and IgM antibodies are triggered in response to foods, chemicals, and bacterial toxins.
The most common antibody reactions are IgG to mold and foods; exposure to molds and foods is quite high compared to pollens. For example, in an entire hay-fever season, we might inhale a teaspoon of pollen, but we take pounds of food inside us each day. It is estimated that 95 percent of all food allergy is of this delayed type.
In the past, these delayed allergies were called serum sickness. The sensitivities cause symptoms that are delayed, taking several hours to several days to appear, which makes tracking them down very difficult. Food and environmental sensitivities cause a wide number of symptoms typical of a leaky gut reaction.
Food particles enter the bloodstream through damaged mucosal membranes; the body recognizes them as foreign substances (antigens) and triggers an immune reaction. Prolonged antibody response can overwhelm the liver’s ability to eliminate these food antigens.
Subsequently, the antigens enter the bloodstream and trigger delayed hypersensitivity response, inflammation, cell damage, and disease. Almost any food can cause a reaction, although the most common are beef, citrus, dairy products, egg, pork, and wheat. These foods provoke 80 percent of food sensitivity reactions.
Antibodies and antigens form what is known as immune complexes. If you have many antibodies and few antigens, you have a small immune complex. Conversely, if you have many antigens and only a few antibodies, you also have a small immune complex.
The worst symptoms and cravings appear when you have moderate amounts of both antibodies and antigens—when you have a large immune complex. When you try to eliminate foods while in this state, you are left with enormous cravings for them, and symptoms often worsen before they improve.
It can take seven to ten days to get through this stage. These large immune complexes can cause rashes in the skin and cheeks, as those seen in lupus. Blood testing for IgG or IgG4, IgM, and/or IgA antibody reactions can help determine sensitivities to a variety of foods and environmental substances.
You may want to screen for food allergies with IgE testing at the same time. Some labs test for another indicator of delayed hypersensitivity: white blood cell blastogenesis, where lymphocytes are stimulated and produce protein, DNA, and RNA at a rapid rate.
Environmental screening panels measure antibody reaction to chemicals commonly found in our homes, yards, workplaces, and public places. People often test positive to household cleaning supplies and petroleum-based chemicals. Several laboratories perform antibody testing for foods, dusts, environmental chemicals, heavy metals, molds, and pollens.
Lectins
Lectins that are incompatible with our genetics can also cause negative reactions to foods. We each have a genetically determined blood type—A, B, AB, or O. Our blood types contain specific antibodies that helped our ancestors live successfully in their environment.
We no longer stick to our ancestor’s specific environment and are continually exposed to new substances. When we eat a food that contains lectins that are incompatible to our blood type, they target an organ or tissue and begin to collect blood cells in clumps, a process called agglutination.
Peter D’Adamo, N.D., author of Eat Right 4 Your Type, hypothesized that when we eat foods containing lectins incompatible with our blood type, we experience negative health reactions. For example, if I have type A blood and drink milk, my body will begin to agglutinate and reject that milk.
When I drink milk, the next morning I wake up with a clump of mucus in my throat. I know this and usually avoid uncultured dairy products. The lectins don’t get digested and then cause reactions. According to D’Adamo, the lectin proteins settle somewhere in our bodies and have a magnetic effect on the cells there.
The cells clump together and are targeted for destruction as though they were foreign invaders. This can appear to us as irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, or nearly any inflammatory condition. Lectin reactions mimic food allergies. The digestive system and nervous system are especially sensitive to lectin reactions.
The people whose arthritis responds to elimination of the nightshade family of foods (potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes, peppers) probably have lectin sensitivities. If you want to know much more about blood type diets and lectins, read Eat Right 4 Your Type.
Elimination-Provocation Diet
If you wish to determine food and chemical sensitivities on your own, you can use the elimination-provocation challenge. Only eat foods that you are unlikely to be sensitive to for a week and then add back the foods you normally eat to “challenge” your system.
Removal of offending foods calms down symptoms, while careful addition of only one food every two days makes it easier to determine which cause reaction. Although the elimination-provocation challenge sounds simple, it can be tricky.
People usually have no problem with the elimination part—a restricted food plan for a week is easy. Slowly adding foods back into your diet may be more difficult, because recipes and restaurant foods have many ingredients. Sometimes it’s hard to determine which ingredient caused the distress.
Reactions that are delayed for a day or two also complicate the situation. It then becomes necessary to remove all suspected foods for four days and try them again one at a time. If you have the same reaction each time you add the food, you’ve found the culprit.
Unfortunately, if you have sensitivities to one food, you are often sensitive to all foods in the same family. For example, some people who are sensitive to wheat are sensitive to all grains in the grass family. It is common to be sensitive to more than one food or food family.
To cure food and environmental sensitivities, you’ll do best with a holistic approach. Begin by avoiding substances you are sensitive to for a period of six months, and your body will gradually stop reacting to most of them. That will help detoxify the body, especially the liver.
A comprehensive program of nutritional supplements will help in the healing process. The Elisa/Act Patient Handbook, provided by Elisa/Act Biotechnologies, reads, “Persons suffering from immune system dysfunction and overload due to delayed hypersensitivity reactions often have a need for even greater supplementation because of poor functioning of the body’s normal biochemical pathways.”
Organically grown and nutrientrich natural foods also help repair the body. Exercise programs and use of stress-management tools also play a part in recovery. With a holistic program you will find that over time you will become less and less sensitive to foods and the environment.

September 9, 2008 (Computerworld) Apple Inc. will release an iPhone update Friday that CEO Steve Jobs promised today "fixes lots of bugs," including the dropped call problem that's plagued users since July.
User reaction was mixed on Apple's support forum, where some took a wait-and-see approach while others remained skeptical.
Near the end of Tuesday morning's rollout of new iPods, Jobs announced iPhone v2.1's delivery date and gave a quick overview of its contents.
"It's a big update," Jobs said. "It fixes lots of bugs. You'll get fewer call drops, you will get significantly improved battery life for most customers. We have fixed a lot of bugs where [when] you have a lot of apps on the phone, you're not gonna get some of the crashes that we've seen." He also said that iPhone 2.1 would dramatically cut the time it takes users to synchronize their phones to iTunes.
Users have complained about all four problems Jobs mentioned, but the one that has gotten the most attention from both customers and the media is the dropped-call issue.
Within days of the July 11 debut of the iPhone 3G, buyers began posting messages on Apple's support forums detailing weak signal strength -- even in areas supposedly covered by AT&T Inc.'s 3G network -- slow download speeds and frequently dropped calls.
Three weeks ago, Apple released iPhone 2.0.2, an update the company said improved the phone's 3G functionality, a claim most users disputed. Since then, Apple has been hit by at least two lawsuits seeking class-action status that accuse the company of deceiving customers by claiming the iPhone reliably connected to 3G networks.
Reaction to the news of the impending iPhone update was mixed on Apple's support forum.
Some took Jobs' announcement at face value, and were willing to withhold judgment until they can download and install the update. "We should at least wait and see if the update lives up to his word," said a user tagged as "Ansuz82" on the iPhone support forum.
Others, however, were still angry that Apple had not been more forthcoming about the iPhone 3G problems and were skeptical that the company would be more transparent on Friday. "Let's see if those statements or any further detail actually make it into the firmware release notes," said "DaddyK" on a different thread. "Further bug detail would be the responsible thing to do."
A few wondered why the iPhone 2.1 update had been scheduled for Friday when a similar update, also dubbed 2.1, was available today for the iPod Touch, the iPhone look-alike. "Why do we have to wait till Friday when people can buy an iPod Touch today with 2.1 already on it?" asked "deimos256" just before the Apple event concluded. "Talk about deflated expectations, all this big update is gonna do is fix problems that never should have happened."
Ansuz82 pitched in with a possible answer. "More than likely it's a server load issue. I remember the last big update where iTunes and the iPhone/Touch were updated. Downloads were going at a crawl. Staggering will help with that."
The user was referring to the Version 2.0 update that Apple issued on the same day it launched iPhone 3G, when AT&T was forced to suspend in-store activations because Apple's servers had been overwhelmed.
Apple did post a 2.1 update for iPod Touch users today. The update included patches for seven vulnerabilities, among them a fix for the DNS bug that was first disclosed in July and patched by Apple the last day of that month. Some researchers, however, maintained that Apple's July 31 fix didn't patch the vulnerability on Mac OS X clients.

Ambulance transport can save the life of ordinary citizens faced with extraordinary circumstances. The primary reason for the transport is medical, and that the person is being transported to, or from, a facility where they are to receive medical treatment. It is a life saving measure that can mean the difference between life and death in many situations.
An air ambulance service is used for emergency medical assistance in situations where either a traditional ambulance cannot easily or quickly reach the scene or the patient needs to be repositioned at a distance where air transportation is most practical. It is also indispensable when the patient is in a remote area and time is critical.
Air ambulances can be airplanes or helicopters. Air ambulance operates both, domestic and international, providing inter-facility medical transport of patients requiring various levels of assistance. They are often loaded with the most important equipment for emergency medical procedures. Air ambulance crews are pilots with experienced in flying in difficult conditions, paramedics or emergency medical technicians, nurses and a physician. Every member of an air ambulance crew are highly trained and able to work under high stress. They all provide the necessary support and medical care to the patients in flight.

Today, Americans solemnly remembered and mourned the lives lost seven years ago in the worst terror attacks on the nation, a tragedy that President Bush said brought "extraordinary acts of courage" and heroism from ordinary citizens. 2,749 people died in the collapse of the twin towers (World trade Center), 184 people died when a jetliner flew into the Pentagon and 40 people aboard United Flight 93 died in the Pennsylvania field.

"Redeem Team" Lives Up to Name and Avenges Disappointing 2004 Games
© Daniel Gilland
After an embarassing showing at the 2004 Summer Olympics which featured the United States team taking home a disappointing bronze medal, the NBA set out to revive Olympic basketball in the country. What resulted was a team which dominated the rest of the world arguably unlike any prior squad.
2008 USA Team Finds Intense Defense and Teamwork to be Main Keys
The United States improved on a dismal defensive performance in the previous Summer Games. The team held opponents to an impressive 40.3% field goal percentage. While exhibiting that stingy defense, the team of NBA stars shot a tidy 55% from the field. Keying the efforts at both ends of the courts was Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, who shot a scorching 67% from the field, while snatching 2.6 steals per game, as well.
USA Returns to Familiar Position Atop World
In the five Summer Olympics held since the International Olympic Committee first allowed NBA players to compete in the Games, the USA has won gold every year but 2004. For LeBron James, the team's performance officially vaults it back to the top of the world basketball picture. "Much respect to Spain, but the U.S. is back on top again," James said after the gold-medal round against the European team.
USA Players Prove that Superstars Can Coexist
The USA's supremacy over international competition in talent has rarely ever been in question. What has been debated is whether or not a team of twelve high-scoring, multi-million dollar professional athletes. Early on in the Beijing Olympics, however, the USA silenced the many skeptics with an array of teamwork through pick-and-rolls, alley oops, and balanced scoring throughout the roster. All five of the team's starters reached double figures in scoring in the gold-medal game. In each of its eight games, the United States accumulated more assists than its opposition, underscoring a newfound national emphasis on passing and team play.
USA Coach Sees Gold Medal As Biggest Accomplishment
United States head coach Mike Krzyzewski has, to say the least, led a legendary coaching career. The Duke University coach has carried his NCAA team to three national championships and ten conference championships in 28 seasons at the school. However, when asked to compare his new Olympic gold medal with his previous collegiate championships, Krzyewski was blatant. "This tops everything I'v ever accomplished. There's no bigger achievement than to win a gold medal for your country," Coach Krzyewski said in a post-game press conference.

According to wikipedia, Jatropha Curcas (tuba-tuba)(tubang bakod) is a perennial poisonous shrub belonging to the Euphorbiaceae or spurge family. It is an uncultivated non-food wild-species.
Jatropha curcas is a good source of renewable fuel and it is one of the best candidates for future biodiesel production. Jatropha seeds are crushed producing jatropha oil that can be processed to produce a high-quality biodiesel that can be used in a standard diesel car, while the residue can also be processed into biomass to power electricity plants. Jatropha oil has high saponification value, making it an excellent substrate for soap-making.
Jatropha, a native of Central America, was brought to Europe by Portuguese explorers in the 16th century and has since spread worldwide, even though, until recently, it had few uses: malaria treatment, a windbreak for animals, live fencing and candle-mak-ing. An ingredient in folk remedies around the world, it earned the nickname “physic nut”, but its sap is a skin irritant, and ingesting three untreated seeds can kill a person.

"Hi Charice. Hi sweetheart. I have to tell you that I am speechless, to start with--and it's not a good way to start--I have, hmm, I have heard you sing. I have seen some, a little bit of your life story. And I am extremely ecstatic like the rest of the world who is watching right now. I can tell you that we have lots of things in common. And I also had a mother, still have a mother, who is my strength. My passion I carry in my heart. And so my beauty. And David Foster, you cannot even think of finding somebody even better than that to bring the best out of you. You have more talent than most people."
These were the words of a mother with a seven-year-old son who spoke to 15-year-old Filipina singer Charice Pempengco during an episode of Oprah. Charice, who has been the toast of music lovers all over the world, has probably heard similar praise before.
The difference is, the mother speaking via video conference from Washington, D.C. happens to be Celine Dion.
The magical moment, the words, the shocked expression on Charice's face when she realizes it's Celine Dion talking to her, are all captured in a YouTube link sent to abs-cbnNEWS.com. It's all there at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkLjVJOH41U
But that's not all. Dion goes on with her message to Charice with even more good news for the young Filipina:
"You can sing. You can speak and sing with your heart. You can play the guitar... And you can have dreams because your life story is quite a painful one. Thank God your strength comes from your mother and your heart will go on and I'm pretty sure of that.
"And if I may I would love to propose something. I would love to do something very special with you. Next week, I'm gonna be singing at Madison Square Garden and I would love to ask you to come and sing a duet with me. And we can sing together. Maybe we can sing "Because You Loved Me", and maybe we can dedicate this song to your mother. So I hope you can travel and come in New York to meet with me," Dion told Charice.
According to www.oprah.com, Dion will perform at Madison Square Garden on September 15 and 16. (For the complete list of tour dates and venues go to this link: http://www.oprah.com/article/oprahshow/20080908_tows_celine)
Dream come true
Charice has met with a measure of international success but that moment with Dion is so far the peak experience for the former. Charice has always been open about her admiration for Dion, revealing that the very first song she learned to perform was the Canadian superstar's "My Heart Will Go On" which was the love theme of the Hollywood global blockbuster "Titanic".
It wasn't exactly God speaking to Charice, but that was probably the closest the Filipina singer could get to a similar experience. This was Celine Dion inviting her to sing a duet in Madison Square Garden!
No other Filipino singer has ever been bestowed with such an honor by a singer of such immense, global stature as Dion.
Dion in her message also told Oprah, "You have somebody amazing", referring to the Filipina.
Dion, who earlier told Charice that she could find no better person than David Foster to bring out her talent, then told Foster:
"David, take good care of that girl."
Dion is currently on a worldwide tour and will perform in every major city in North America. Dion's Madison Square Garden performance is part of that tour--and now Charice has received a personal invitation from the superstar to sing there as well.
Under wraps
abs-cbnNEWS.com a few months ago already received unconfirmed reports that there were talks for Charice to perform with "somebody really, really big" in the musical firmament. However, there was no way to confirm if the news was true, nor the identity of the "really big" music superstar.
All sources available to abs-cbnNEWS.com were keeping information about the talks very tightly under wraps.
Until the YouTube links were emailed to abs-cbnNEWS.com by an alert reader.
The Oprah episode did a substantial report about Charice, her career and the painful experiences in her life and her triumphs, including an exclusive performance with international tenor Andrea Bocelli in Tuscany. You can watch the report on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii4jUSmFwUA
Perhaps, this story of a young Filipina singer's success is just what we need to hear to make us feel better, especially with all the bad news coming to us about our Court of Appeals, which has begun to seem very unappealing by the day.
If only, like Charice, more of us could reach for better, loftier things for ourselves and our fellow Filipinos, at a time when even some supposedly honorable members of the judiciary seem to have become comfortable debasing themselves.

Green leafy vegetables - good sources of many vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay healthy, like vitamin A, vitamin C, and calcium. They are also great sources of fiber. It offers major benefits to your entire body, including your brain, your bones and your heart, while helping to prevent cancer, detoxify your body, boost your immune system and give your more energy.
Lemons - is widely known for its healing powers and is used in many different ways. Lemon is also a diuretic. This means it is good for people with urinary tract infections and high uric acid problems, such as those with arthritis or rheumatism because it helps flush out all the toxins and bad bacteria.
Watercress - is a member of the cruciferous family which includes broccoli, kale and mustard. It contains three times as much vitamin E as lettuce, more iron than spinach, and more calcium than milk. Watercress moves things out of your system by acting as a diuretic, plus it's rich in minerals.
Garlic - has been used for its beneficial effects for thousands of years. It is a blood cleanser, a natural antibiotic it also reduces blood fats thinning the blood and lowering blood pressure. In addition to the bulb's cardio benefits, it activates liver enzymes that help filter out junk.
Green tea - chemicals derived from green tea dramatically boosted production of a group of key detoxification enzymes in people with low levels of these beneficial proteins. GST (glutathione S-transferase) enzymes are believed to be crucial to the body's defense against cancer-causing chemicals and other toxins.
Broccoli sprouts - contain a chemical that kills the bacteria responsible for most stomach cancer, say researchers, confirming the dietary advice that moms have been handing out for years. Broccoli sprouts are particularly useful for detox and activate the liver's phase II detox enzymes.
Sesame seeds - Sesame seeds help protect the liver from damage caused by alcohol and other toxins. And if you want more than just what comes on your hamburger bun try tahini, a sesame seed paste commonly used in Asian dishes.
Cabbage - is a longstanding dietary staple throughout the world and is so widely cultivated and stores so well that it is available throughout the year. The cabbage has beneficial properties that are known to prevent cancer, among other known diseases. The phytonutrients in cruciferous vegetables initiate an intricate dance inside our cells in which gene response elements direct and balance the steps among dozens of detoxification enzyme partners, each performing its own protective role in perfect balance with the other dancers.
Psyllium - is used to treat constipation. It absorbs liquid in the intestines, swells, and forms a bulky stool, which is easy to pass. Psyllium is cultivated for it use as an herbal medicine. The husk of the psyllium plant is a very rich source of natural fiber. Psyllium facilitates regular bowel movements, dredges the colon of dangerous toxic residues and accelerates the entire detox process.
Fresh Fruits - All fresh fruit is good for detox provided it is eaten on its own, not before, with, or after food. A fresh fruit or fruits juice fasting is often recommended for a short (3-day) fast to cleanse and detoxify. Fruit can be fresh, frozen or dried. It includes apples, pears, oranges, grapefruit, bananas, raisins, pineapple, mango, kiwi fruit, raspberries, strawberries, blackcurrants, melon, sultanas, nectarines and peaches.

The Blackberry Curve 8320 is a compact phone. It is thin, at no thicker than a half inch, and weighs just a few ounces. It is about the width of a woman’s palm. The well-lit, high resolution monitor takes up the top half of the front. Below the monitor is a row of four buttons for start and stop, current menu and previous screen. In the middle is a small trackball (in other words, a computer mouse with no covering). The bottom has a compressed, but nicely organized QWERTY keyboard. The numpad, numbers 9 – 0, are alternative buttons on the extreme left keys, as well as the Space button, Shift and symbols.
The Pearl 8100 is a very normal looking bar shaped phone if you overlook the two extra columns on the keypad and the trackball where the d-pad or joystick typically would be. The number keys all have silver colored paint on them that makes it easy to see the keypad as a normal numeric keypad. The Pearl's backlit trackball has a very nice feel to it, and is easily spun in any direction as needed. It can be pressed in for selecting menu items and the like, and seems to do so without moving off your intended target, as is sometimes the case with d-pads that don't have separate select buttons. The back cover includes a self-portrait mirror for the camera, as well as protective covers for the camera itself and the flash.

Mary Grace Gellekanao - a 28 year old pianist with an easy smile and sweet disposition. Grace was born on March 7, 1979, in Riverside Medical Center, Bacolod City, Philippines. When Grace showed interest in music and piano, her grandmother took it as a challenge. She sought teacher after teacher, but no one agreed to give her lessons. How could a girl without a forearm ever be able to master the keyboard? But both Grace and her grandmother were made of sterner stuff. They were not ones to easily give up. After months of walking up and down their town, their persistence paid off. One teacher wanted to be a part of the challenge, and she agreed to teach Grace, who was then only a child. She practices for at least four hours a day and can play many difficult pieces. She also plays the organ.
In 1994, Grace, encouraged by her teacher, Mrs. Sylvia Javellana, presented a solo organ recital. A year later, the country's Volunteers for the Rehabilitation of the Handicapped and the Disabled arranged for Grace's first public solo piano recital. It was a hit, but it was just the beginning.
In 1996, Grace started touring internationally and has been busy ever since with college studies and performances. She graduated in May 2001 from the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City, with a degree in psychology. Grace hopes to use her musical talents to help others--especially those differently-abled such as herself--to accept themselves as God's special creation so that they can live productive, purposeful lives. She is currently volunteering with the 1,000 Missionary Movement in the Philippines.
Mary Grace performs practically every weekend all over the United States. She is open to performing for any church or organization. You can contact her at (225) 664-8174 or you can email her at revawall@bellsouth.net.

Mariah Carey was spotted topless while vacationing in the Caribbean. Wearing a skimpy little bikini bottom and carrying a well-placed magazine. The scene looked staged. It was unlikely Mariah would allow herself to be photographed topless in candid shots without reason. She's really a Hottie!

Green Honey is now one of the best selling products of Palawan, Philippines. It is a natural mint-green colored honey and has the same taste like the usual natural honey we've bought from a supermarket. Palaweños (palawan locals) said that green honey can heal wounds, cough, and some illness. According to them, green honey is rare and difficult to harvest. It can only be found in a palabawen (wasp) underground hive in the forest. They dig the hive then burn it to kill all the wasps inside and also to prevent them from wasp sting. But some experts still doubt that green honey really exist.
I read an article from Inquirer.net about green honey analysis. Based from Dr. C.R. Cervancia (head of the National Center for Excellence for Bee Research and Development), “Unlike bees, which have a receptacle for honey in their bodies, wasps are unable to collect and transfer it to their nests for storage. Since they’re not known to consume algae, their production of green honey is even more unlikely." Investigators from UPLB went off to palawan searching for it in its natural environment and they confirmed that it can’t be found in nature! Chemical analysis indicates that green honey is adulterated with blue and yellow pigments.
According to Cordillera Green Network (CGN), they identified that Calliandra (Calliandra colothysus) can be a possible nectar source for "green honey" production based from the result of a research conducted by University of the Philippines, Baguio. Calliandra is a tree species which grows over 10 meters in height with leaves like ipil-ipil and upright flowers that resemble the florets of the bottle-brush tree with a yellow-green nectar which can be converted into highly viscous, deep-green colored honey.

Google.org, Google's philanthropic arm, has announced five core initiatives that it plans to focus on over the next five to ten years.
Google.org will "collaborate with experienced partners working in each of these fields, investing its resources and tapping the strengths of Google's employees and global operations to advance its core initiatives." More than $25 million in new grants and investments from Google.org, will be handed to these initial partners.
Google's founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, have committed to devoting approximately 1 percent of the company's equity plus 1 percent of annual profits to philanthropy.
In the past, Google.org has focused mainly on environmental issues but they are now expanding their vision.
The five initiatives Google.org will focus on:
Predict and Prevent - supporting efforts to empower communities to predict and prevent the spread of diseases before they become local, regional, or global crises, by identifying "hot spots" and enabling a rapid response. The initial focus will be on Southeast Asia and tropical Africa in the areas' global health threats (specifically SARS and potentially bird flu), humanitarian crises, biological threats, and climate variability.
Inform and Empower to Improve Public Services - improving the flow of vital information to improve basic services for the poor in India and East Africa. With failing essential public services, especially for the poorest members of these countries, Google.org will work with their partners to empower citizens and communities, providers, and policy makers to improve the delivery of essential public services such as education, health, water and sanitation.
Fuel the Growth of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises - Along with their partner, Google.org wants to help increase the flow of capital to small and mid-sized businesses specifically in Ghana and Tanzania, by tackling some of the root causes that prevent these firms from becoming profitable investment opportunities.
Develop Renewable Energy Cheaper Than Coal- working toward a goal of producing one gigawatt of renewable energy capacity that is cheaper than coal. The aim is to have this accomplished within a few years, not a few decades. The focus will initially be on advanced solar thermal power, wind power technologies, enhanced geothermal systems and other potential breakthrough technologies.
Accelerate the Commercialization of Plug-In Vehicles (RechargeIT) - an initiative that aims to reduce CO2 emissions, cut oil use and stabilize the electrical grid by accelerating the adoption of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and vehicle-to-grid technology. Google.org will invest amounts ranging from $500,000 to $2 million in selected companies whose innovative approach and technologies will enable widespread commercialization of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles.
Dr. Larry Brilliant, executive director of Google.org, explains that "these five initiatives are our attempt to address some of the hard problems we as a world need to face in the coming decade. We have chosen them both because we think solving them will make a better, fairer, safer world for our children and grandchildren - and the children and grandchildren of people all over the world - but also because we feel that these core initiatives fit well with Google's core strengths, especially its innovative technologies and its talented engineers and other Googlers, who are really our most valuable assets."
Many readers of this news have commented that $25 million over ten years is not a lot, considering the billions of dollars they earn each year. Let us know what you think.

The new 10-million Zimbabwe note is the equivalent of about $4(US) at the dominant black market exchange rate. Zimbabweans will be soon lining their pockets with 10-million-dollar bills. The central bank announced last thursday it would increase the denomination of the nation's highest bank note more than tenfold to keep pace with the world's highest inflation rate, officially estimated at 25,000 percent annually. Independent financial institutions say real inflation is closer to 150,000 percent.
Zimbabwe is in there 10th year of economic crisis, marked by the world's highest rate of inflation, the fastest shrinking gross domestic product in a country not in a state of war, the most rapidly collapsing currency and unemployment of over 80%. A year ago, the highest denomination was 10,000 Zimbabwe dollars, then worth about $7, now it is worth about 1/3 of 1 cent (US).

Wanna walk tall? If Mother Nature has failed to give you that statuesque figure, worry not. Fitbone surgery, an advanced and high-tech option for leg lengthening, promises to add those crucial inches. This is a relatively-new surgical procedure for lengthening bones and skeletal deformities. It involves a fully-implantable, electronically-motorised, limb-lengthening device. The average length a limb can be elongated is between 5-9 cm. Of course, it comes at a painful price. The procedure is being done in Singapore, Bangkok, Malaysia and the Philippines.
This surgery is also done on those with injuries, congenital defects and certain kinds of dwarfism. It's rarely done on kids under 16 due to risk of damage on growth plates. Fitbone surgery is an advancement over the older Ilazarov surgery where the patient's leg is fitted with a frame that pierces the skin, muscles and bone. Screws attached to the bone are turned 1 mm per day. After the growth gap is closed, patients have to wear the frame till the new bone solidifies. Beware, there's risk of infection.
Fitbone surgery, on the other hand, involves cutting the bone and implanting a metal telescopic nail containing a motor. This expands lengthwise about 1 mm a day as the bone grows around the expanding rod. It's powered and controlled by radio signals from outside. After being lengthened, the bone is allowed to solidify. Surgery takes 3-4 hours and the patient has to remain in hospital for about a week. It could take some nine months for the patient to walk again. The rod is removed after two years.

Yes, even Ferrari is talking about the environment at this year's Detroit show. The unveiling of the Spider Biofuel was done with very little fanfare, which led some industry observers to question just how dedicated Ferrari is to going green in a big way. The sleek Ferrari F430 Spider Biofuel, with green stripes on its silver bodywork, consumes an E85 -- 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline -- mix, a growing fuel blend in the U.S. The ultimate goal is to cut emissions by forty percent by 2012. The company stresses that they will make this happen without compromising performance.
Ferrari says technical characteristics have remained unchanged with respect to a standard production engine on this prototype. On the F430 Spider, the fuel system and the engine control unit are modified to handle the ethanol fuel. With these changes, the Ferrari gains 10 hp along with a four percent boost in torque. On top of that, CO2 emissions fall by five percent when ethanol fuel is used.

Intestinal capillariasis caused by Capillaria philippinensis appeared first in the Philippines and subsequently in Thailand, Japan, Iran, Egypt, and Taiwan, but most infections occur in the Philippines and Thailand. As established experimentally, the life cycle involves freshwater fish as intermediate hosts and fish-eating birds as definitive hosts. Embryonated eggs from feces fed to fish hatch and grow as larvae in the fish intestines. Infective larvae fed to monkeys, Mongolian gerbils, and fish-eating birds develop into adults.
Larvae become adults in 10 to 11 days, and the first-generation females produce larvae. These larvae develop into males and egg-producing female worms. Eggs pass with the feces, reach water, embryonate, and infect fish. Autoinfection is part of the life cycle and leads to hyperinfection. Humans acquire the infection by eating small freshwater fish raw. The parasite multiplies, and symptoms of diarrhea, borborygmus, abdominal pain, and edema develop. Chronic infections lead to malabsorption and hence to protein and electrolyte loss, and death results from irreversible effects of the infection.
Treatment consists of electrolyte replacement and administration of an antidiarrheal agent and mebendazole or albendazole. Capillariasis philippinensis is considered a zoonotic disease of migratory fish-eating birds. The eggs are disseminated along flyways and infect the fish, and when fish are eaten raw, the disease develops.

Here are the terrible 10 that are typical to most pay per click campaigns.
Too Many Keywords Per Ad Group
It's important to target your ad to be as relevant as possible. Don't group all your keywords into one or two ad groups. Break them out. Keep them tight. This gives you more control over ad variables so that you can be as relevant as possible.
Not Using Negative Keywords
Negative keywords reduce unwanted impressions, and more importantly, unwanted click throughs. However, with increasing priority given to "quality scores" and click through rates in the PPC engines, it's key to trim the fat from your keyword campaigns. If your company sells "widget management software" then be sure that you have keywords like "-serial" or "-free" assigned as negative keywords (unless, of course, you offer it for free in some manner). You can find good negative keywords in your log files or when you build your lists.
Weak Testing
Split-testing your ads is critical. Even the smallest of changes can boost results. In addition to testing your ad copy's "call to action" or value statements, every ad has multiple variables to test. The titles, the two lines of copy, and display url all can be optimized. If you don't have time for hands-on testing, a good professional pay per click management company can run daily split testing for you. You'd be surprised how well this can pay off.
Poor or Non-Existent Tracking
Of course, testing your ads and fine tuning your keyword lists only works well if you are tracking results. The search engines will tell you what your click-through rates are ... but you need bottom-line results. You need to know your return on investment or what your cost per action is. It's not enough to know that you spend $5,000 and get back $10,000. You might be able to spend only $3,000 and get that same $10,000.
Not Getting Keyword-Level Tracking
Proper and exact analytics or using an experienced pay per click management company is essential to get the data you need. If you have keywords that are not performing and leaking your account on a daily basis, you are throwing money away. Getting results to the keyword level allows you to adjust bids for maximum effect. If you have one keyword with a $1.34 earnings per click and another at 37 cents, this is key information that allows you to maximize profits. Lower one bid if you are above your "EPC" and raise another to eek out more profits from that sweet-spot keyword. Don't waste money on a daily basis.
Not Specific Enough Keywords
Some broad and generic keywords can certainly push a ton of traffic to your site. They may even be very successful. Often, however, they can also do just the opposite -- drain your funds with poor results. A user searching on one of these generic phrases is often doing research in an early part of the buying process. Knowing your keyword-level results and filtering out bad variations with negative keywords can help you get a true read on these generic keywords.
Not Going After Long-Tail Keywords
This follows the above item on generic keywords. Building a list and individual ads for the long-tail keywords can be a major time-sucker. It can also be profitable if the task is performed correctly. Those earnings per click will likely vary widely from a generic keyword like "mp3 player", "sony mp3 player" and "sony 2GB S610 walkman video mp3 player". One consumer is doing research, the other knows what they want and is most likely looking to purchase.
Not Separating Content and Search Networks
An easy way to get scorched on poor performing traffic or even click fraud is to not separate your search network ads from your content network ads. Chances are that if you don't know what the difference is, then they are likely not separated in your account -- and bad keywords are leaking your funds daily. You are better off to build different campaigns for your keywords on the content and search networks.
Not Attracting Local Clients Through Geo Targeting
If you draw most of your business from a local area, the big three PPC engines allow you to geo-target your keywords to that area. This will bring the local market to your doorstep on non-local keyword phrases. This can be hugely profitable.
Not Frequently Monitoring Your Accounts
Not everyone has time to run split testing on a daily basis or frequently checking your EPCs (even though you should...because it's costing you). That said, there are still a high amount of advertisers who seem to ignore their accounts for days ... or even weeks ... or (don't tell me you're doing this!) months. The big PPC search engines are increasingly cracking down on poor performing keywords, smacking advertisers with that "Inactive for Search" status for individual keywords. When this happens, you lose traffic, you lose profits. If you are investing heavily in PPC, you can't just turn your back on your account for days at a time.
The Terrible 10 of Pay Per Click Advertising is a lot to consider, but it's vital for healthy pay per click campaigns. Whether you can actively manage your PPC accounts at this level or you need to hire a pay per click management company to do it, vigilance and precision can make a huge impact on your bottom line.

Having completed a years-long scientific review, the Food and Drug Administration is set to announce as early as next week that meat and milk from cloned farm animals and their offspring can start making their way toward supermarket shelves, sources in contact with the agency said yesterday.
The decision would be a notable act of defiance against Congress, which last month passed appropriations legislation recommending that any such approval be delayed pending further studies. Moreover, the Senate version of the Farm bill, yet to be reconciled with the House version, contains stronger, binding language that would block FDA action on cloned food, probably for years.
With a conference committee poised to finalize the farm bill in the next few weeks, that left the FDA a potentially narrow time frame within which to act if it wanted to settle the issue in sync with America's major meat-trading partners.
New Zealand and Australia have released reports concluding that meat and milk from clones are safe. Canada and Argentina are reportedly close to doing the same.
And although European consumers are generally uncomfortable with agricultural biotechnology, the European Union's food safety agency is expected to endorse the safety of meat and milk from clones in a draft statement that could be released within the next week.
"The science seems to be leading them and us to the same conclusion," said a U.S. trade official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because U.S. policy is technically still under review.
The FDA has hinted strongly in the past year that it is ready to lift its "voluntary moratorium" on the marketing of milk and meat from clones and their offspring, saying that the science led them to that decision. Multiple studies compiled by the agency have shown that the chemical composition of those products is virtually identical to that of milk and meat from conventionally bred animals. And studies in which rodents were fed food from clones have found no evidence of health effects.
But public opinion has been negative on the issue, with some saying that not enough safety studies have been conducted and others concerned about the health of the clones, which are far more likely than ordinary farm animals to die early in life.
As of yesterday, the FDA would neither confirm nor deny that it is close to releasing its so-called final risk assessment. Spokeswoman Julie Zawisza said the agency had received a lot of feedback -- about 30,500 comments -- on its draft risk assessment, released in December 2006. That document found no "food consumption risks or subtle hazards" associated with meat or milk from clones or their offspring.
The agency has not revealed how many comments were in favor or opposed.
Clones are genetic replicas, typically made from a single skin cell of a desirable animal. A handful of U.S. companies have pushed for marketing approval, saying the technology will make products from the tastiest beef cattle, leanest pigs and most generous milk producers more widely available to consumers.
"Thousands of data points, hundreds of peer-reviewed journal articles and two reviews by the National Academies have all said the same thing," said Mark Walton, president of ViaGen, an Austin-based cattle cloning company that provided many of the animals that independent researchers studied for the FDA. "There is nothing left to review."
Walton emphasized that for now, because clones are so expensive to make, they will be used almost entirely as breeding stock to produce conventional offspring for market. Scientists largely agree that although some clones harbor genetic peculiarities of uncertain relevance, their sexually produced offspring are healthy and normal.
But even Walton concedes that eventually both clones and their offspring will find their way to market. And as word spread through back channels in recent days that the FDA was poised to give a green light, opponents expressed surprise and anger.
"The FDA has been on the Hill on bended knee asking for more money, yet they are willing to turn around and thumb their nose at the appropriators," said Carol Tucker Foreman, of the Consumer Federation of America, referring to the omnibus spending bill that called for a delay. "The president signed that bill and it is in effect, and they are acting like it doesn't exist."
Margaret Mellon of the Union of Concerned Scientists, an advocacy group, said she had read the entire 678-page draft risk assessment and found it to be "long on assumptions and short on data, and especially short on the data that are directly relevant to food consumption safety."
Of particular concern, she said, was that even though the vast majority of clones die either before birth or soon after, those that survive are deemed normal. She said the FDA should withhold approval at least until it has a regulatory plan in place that will give it an ability to track food from clones and watch for human health impacts.
Others have called for mandatory labeling so consumers can avoid products from clones.
The FDA has said that lacking any safety concerns, it will not demand such labels. But last month, the two largest U.S. farm animal cloners, ViaGen and Trans Ova Genetics of Sioux Center, Iowa, announced a voluntary plan under which cloned animals would be registered and segregated from the conventional meat processing streams. If accepted by regulators, it could allow some food distributors to label their products as "clone free."
The Agriculture Department has also declared that meat from clones cannot be deemed organic.

I was switching channels when I saw this TV show from MAXXX. It was a reality show called "CHEATERS." This show revolves around spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends and fiancées who have sought the help of "Cheaters" private investigation services for free to find out if their significant other is having an affair with someone else. The show was originally hosted by Tommy Grand, it is now hosted by Joey Greico and each week features a new tormented male or female who waits for the results of surveillance done on his/her partner by the "Cheaters" Private Investigator secret cameras.
As expected, the act of infidelity is proven and, after torturing the betrayed guy or gal with grainy, poor quality footage of their sweetheart's unfaithfulness, Greico and the spurned lover go to confront the person in question. It seems to me that the cheating party is usually located in the parking lot of some cheesy bar or restaurant.
The real action of this show begins, when you see the angry, deceived mate running up to bless out the individual who has broken his/her heart, fists and epithets flying. There are, of course, the obligatory scenes of hysterical screaming and in-your-face verbal altercations expected in these types of reality television ventures.

By the time you hit 40, you’ve got too much free estrogen in your body. Mood swings, bloating and flab are sure signs. If you are over 40, chances are, you’ve now got a trigger-happy pancreas that pumps insulin into your blood at the slightest provocation. Contrary to what the diet industry would like you to believe, diets actually cause people to gain weight!
Diets are predicated on negative feelings about yourself. Women tends to go on diets when they don't feel good about ourselves, hoping that losing weight will make them feel better. This strategy works only as long as they can stay on a diet, which, with its strict rules, no one can do for any length of time, because dieting is based on deprivation. The thing that causes so much confusion here is that diets do work, actually–in the short term. All diets, from cabbage soup to Weight Watchers, will cause women to lose weight. At first. But after five years, all diets have the same result: the vast majority of women who lost weight at first gained it back. But if you make one simple change to correct it, you'll shed pounds quicker than you ever thought possible.

December 20, 2007 - Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has become the oldest living monarch in the country's history. At 81 years and 243 days old, she passed the mark set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria. She is the world's second-longest serving monarch alive, after Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej. She has outlasted 11 prime ministers -- the first was Sir Winston Churchill -- and is the first to have a prime minister, Tony Blair, born during her reign.
Elizabeth was born at 17 Bruton Street, in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926. Her father was Prince Albert, Duke of York and her mother was the Duchess of York. Elizabeth was named after her mother, while her two middle names are those of her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Alexandra, and grandmother, Queen Mary, respectively. She married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on 20 November 1947. On 14 November 1948, Elizabeth gave birth to her first child, Charles. She became Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) upon the death of her father, George VI, on 6 February 1952.
Elizabeth can already claim to have been active longer than Victoria, who retreated from public life for more than a decade after the death of her husband, Prince Albert, in 1861. She may have many years left in the job. Her mother, the Queen Mother Elizabeth, died in 2002 at the age of 101. Earlier this fall, Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, celebrated 60 years of marriage. The Queen's next public engagement is on Christmas Day (December 25), when she will attend a church service on her Sandringham country estate in the county of Norfolk, eastern England.

Tongkat Ali is a popular folk name for Eurycoma longifolia, a medium size slender tree reaching 10 metres in height. The name Tongkat Ali means “Ali’s walking stick.” Another folk name for the plant is Longjack. Tongkat Ali is native to Malaysia, lower Burma, Thailand, and Indonesia. The root is employed as a traditional remedy for the treatment of malaria, high blood pressure, fevers, fatigue, loss of sexual desire, and impotence. Tongkat Ali enjoys both a long history of traditional use, and a growing body of serious science corroborating its efficacy.
The difficulty of harvesting Tongkat Ali in the wild is one very good reason to cultivate the trees in plantations. Additionally, as this traditional plant remedy becomes more popular, supplies of Tongkat Ali in the wild will inevitably decrease. Over time, this tree could become endangered. To preserve the natural environment, and to protect remaining wild specimens of Tongkat Ali, Malaysia is currently establishing plantations of this tree. The Malaysian government is enthusiastic about the future of Tongkat Ali, and is providing economic support for its development. To every appearance, Tongkat Ali is a market volcano of Krakatoa proportions, ready to blow.
Tongkat Ali is a scientifically studied plant which holds up brilliantly under close scrutiny. The root contains a plethora of beneficial compounds, including potent protective antioxidants which inhibit cellular aging. Other phytochemicals in Tongkat Ali are anti-viral, anti-malarial, and anti-cancerous. Others combat high blood pressure, and quell dysentery. Quassinoids in the root prove twice as potent as aspirin against fevers.
Even with its other serious medical applications, what excites most people about Tongkat Ali is that the root significantly boosts sex drive and function in both men and women, by building testosterone. Agents identified as glycoproteins appear to be the sex-promoting ingredients in the plant. This discovery, and years of painstaking research, is the work of Dr. Johari Saad , who is called by many the King Of Tongkat Ali. Dr Johari has conducted the definitive animal research on Tongkat Ali, and developed a novel and proprietary method of extracting the beneficial compounds from the root. His extract, LJ100, has been used in both human and animal studies.
“In our studies, we looked at what was happening with animals when we gave them a specially made water soluble extract of Tongkat Ali.” Joe explained to me. “It basically came down to four categories, increased testosterone, increased energy, inhibition of SHBG, and increased muscle mass.” Joe explained that when given Tongkat ali extract, animals copulate three to four times more frequently than normal. This is due, as it turns out, to a significant increase in testosterone. In fact, testosterone levels in animals given Tongkat Ali increase an unprecedented three to four times on average. While animal results do not always guarantee similar activity in people, the same testosterone-boosting effect does occur in human studies. In laboratory tests on human testicular tissue, Tongkat Ali extract increased the formation of testosterone fourfold.
Increasing testosterone is the big objective from a sex drive standpoint. Testosterone is the most important of the male sex hormones, which are known as androgens, and are produced in the gonads. Testosterone plays a key role in the development and maturity of male sex organs. The hormone promotes secondary sex characteristics including the appearance of facial hair, enlargement of the larynx (producing a deeper voice), sexual desire and sexual behavior. But testosterone is not just a sex booster for men. Women also produce testosterone, about 5 – 10% the amount produced in men. In women, this vital hormone also fans the flames of ardor, and increases sensitivity in the erogenous zones. In both sexes, testosterone stimulates metabolism, promotes lipogenesis (burning of fat), increases the formation of red blood cells, and accelerates muscle growth.
From age thirty or so, blood levels of the hormone decline at a rate of about 2% per year. The level will vary from one person to another. Regular exercise helps to keep a somewhat higher level of testosterone. Those who smoke or drink heavily will lose more of this hormone more quickly. As testosterone decreases in the body, muscle tone, energy and sex drive all begin to decline. In both sexes, sex drive, function, fat metabolism and energy decline into middle age, as blood testosterone drops.
With Tongkat Ali extract you can boost your testosterone levels back up to more youthful levels. Dr Johari also found that Tongkat Ali extract inhibits Sex Hormone Binding Globulin. By inhibiting this agent, more free testosterone remains in the blood. This additionally stems the aging process, improving energy and sexual function, helping to reduce body fat, and reducing risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.
In both men and women, pharmaceutical testosterone has been successfully used as a therapeutic aid in cases of low sex drive. The hormone has also been used to treat some cases of erectile dysfunction in men. In the case of Tongkat Ali, we have a safe, natural plant agent which causes the body to produce its own testosterone, thereby boosting sexual desire and function. Tongkat Ali gets to the absolute essence of human sex drive, and improves it.
An Athletic Edge
As if increasing testosterone weren’t enough, Tongkat Ali extract also greatly increases ATP production. ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, is the basic unit of energy in the body, responsible for keeping us alive and going. By increasing ATP, overall energy and vitality are increased. Most people want more energy, and Tongkat Ali provides it, without hyperstimulation, jittery nerves, or insomnia. This is the holy grail of human energy production, and is a valuable enough health benefit by itself to make Tongkat Ali an enduring superstar on the medicinal plant stage.
Athletes and body builders will employ any agent which boosts performance or muscle mass. In both animals and humans, Tongkat Ali extract increases muscle mass. In a study of men, half of the subjects ingested Tongkat Ali extract and half did not. In an eight week physical training program, the men who consumed Tongkat Ali extract experienced greater gains in muscle mass and strength than those who did not. This demonstrates the powerful anabolic properties of Tongkat Ali. Thanks to this significant discovery, a growing number of Asian athletes and body builders now use Tongkat Ali extract as an androgen, to improve muscle size and strength, and to enhance sports performance.
The Sex Doctor
In the Malaysian capitol of Kuala Lumpur, I met with Dr Ismail Tambi, who runs the Human Reproduction Specialist Center. Dr. Tamby is one of the foremost experts on reproductive health in all of Southeast Asia, and is also the leading medical expert on the effects of Tongkat Ali root extract on human subjects. In his work with men, Dr Tamby has found that use of Tongkat ali extract significantly increases testosterone production. “In our studies, we found that Tongkat ali extract increased the serum level of testosterone considerably.” I asked Dr Tamby if the men in his study experienced renewed sexual vitality, or heightened sexual desire. “Oh, yes, most definitely. The men found that Tongkat Ali boosted their sex drive quite a lot. I think that for low libido, Tongkat Ali extract is very valuable. I have seen this result for myself, and can say that this plant really works.” I asked Dr Tamby if the same would apply to women, who secrete only about 5 – 10% as much testosterone as men. “Yes, it certainly should boost libido in women as well, as testosterone is essential to a woman’s sexual desire. Women have used Tongkat Ali for a very long time in this culture,” he added.
Dr. Tamby conducted the PADAM study, in which he investigated Partial Androgen Deficiency In Males. He selected thirty adult males of various ages, assessed their testosterone levels, and then gave them 100 mg of Tongkat Ali extract daily. The testosterone levels of all the subjects rose, resulting in a 91% improvement in libido, a reported 73% improvement in sexual function, and an 82% psychological improvement relative to sex among the men who participated in the study.
Using Tongkat Ali
Dr Johari and other experts involved with this plant recommend around 100 milligrams of concentrated Tongkat ali standardized to approximately 22% glycoproteins daily for men, and around 50 milligrams for women.

Glutathione is a dietary supplement used as an antioxidant to help protect the body from many diseases and conditions. It is also used to treat infertility (difficulty getting pregnant), cancer, cataracts, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Glutathione is used to detoxify various chemicals from the body.
Other names for Glutathione include: Gamma-glutamylcysteinylglycine and GSH.Glutathione peroxidase (GSH) is your body’s most abundant natural antioxidant. GSH protects your vision, boosts your immune system, helps turn carbohydrates into energy, and prevents the buildup of oxidized fats that may contribute to atherosclerosis.
Glutathione is a compound classified as a tripeptide made of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine. Glutathione is also found in every part of the body, especially the lungs, intestinal tract, and liver. The body produces and stores the largest amounts of GSH in the liver, where it is used to detoxify harmful compounds so that they can be removed from the body through the bile. The liver also supplies GSH directly to red and white blood cells in the bloodstream; it helps keep red blood and white blood cells healthy to maximize the disease-fighting power of the immune system. Glutathione also appears to have an anti-aging affect on the body. GSH levels decline with age, and a lack of glutathione has been shown to leave the body more vulnerable to damage by free radicals, thus speeding up oxidation (wearing down) of the body.
A glutathione deficiency can have a devastating effect on the nervous system, causing such symptoms as lack of balance and coordination, mental disorders, and tremors. Any illness (even a bad cold), chronic disorders such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis, injury, or heavy exposure to pollutants can cause a GSH deficiency. This is because your body uses more GSH when it is supporting white blood cells and ridding the body of toxins.
Glutathione is found in almost all fruits and vegetables. Acorn squash, asparagus, avocado, cantaloupe, grapefruit, okra, orange, peach, potato, spinach, strawberries, tomato, watermelon, and zucchini are all good sources of GSH. Some vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, and parsley, not only provide GSH, but also actually stimulate the body produce more of this powerful antioxidant. Cooking destroys a lot of the glutathione in fresh fruits and vegetables, so you can get the most GSH from these foods by eating them raw or steamed. Eating foods high in glutamine, such as lean meats, eggs, wheat germ, and whole grains, can also stimulate the liver to produce more GSH.
There is no Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for GSH, but supplements have no known harmful side effects. Glutathione supplements can be expensive, but there is some question about the body’s ability to absorb GSH efficiently in supplemental form. If you want to take GSH supplements, just make sure to take them with meals to maximize absorption.
The benefits of Glutathione (GSH)
Glutathione is a substance, the levels of which in our cells are predictive of how long we will live. There are very few other factors, which are as predictive of our life expectancy, as is our level of cellular glutathione.
Glutathione has been called the "master antioxidant" and regulates the actions of lesser antioxidants, such as vitamin C and vitamin E within the body. "We literally cannot survive without this antioxidant."
"Without glutathione, other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E cannot do their job adequately to protect your body against disease."
"No other antioxidant is as important to our overall health as glutathione. It is the regulator and regenerator of immune cells and the most valuable detoxifying agent in the human body. Low levels are associated with hepatic dysfunction, immune dysfunction, cardiac disease, premature aging and death."
"A review article published in the Annals of Pharmacology stated that glutathione is important in DNA synthesis and repair, protein and prostaglandin synthesis, amino acid transport, detoxification of toxins and carcinogens, enhancement of the immune system and protection from oxidation and enzyme activations."
Glutathione has potent anti-viral properties - if tissue and serum glutathione levels are significantly increased, the replication of most pathogens are slowed or stopped. Conversely, glutathione deficiency produces a pro-viral effect. Lymphocytes, cells vital for effective immune function, depend on GSH for their proper function and replication.
As we age, there is a precipitous drop in GSH levels. Lower glutathione levels have been implicated in many diseases associated with aging. Antioxidants are well documented to play vital roles in health maintenance and disease prevention. GSH is your cells' own major antioxidant.
GSH plays a role in eliminating many carcinogens, as well as maintaining immune function.
Strong muscular activity, such as that experienced by athletes, generates oxy-radicals (free radicals) leading to muscle fatigue and poorer performance. GSH neutralizes these radicals.
GSH detoxifies many pollutants, carcinogens and poisons, including many in fuel exhaust and cigarette smoke. It retards damage from radiation, such as seen with loss of the ozone

These palms are low trees, rarely over 9 meters tall, with a stout, spiny trunk. The outer rind is about 5 centimeters thick and hard as bamboo. The rind encloses a spongy inner pith containing a high proportion of starch. It has typical palmlike leaves clustered at the tip.
Habitat and Distribution: Sago palm is found in tropical rain forests. It flourishes in damp lowlands in the Malay Peninsula, New Guinea, Indonesia, the Philippines, and adjacent islands. It is found mainly in swamps and along streams, lakes, and rivers.
Edible Parts: These palms, when available, are of great use to the survivor. One trunk, cut just before it flowers, will yield enough sago to feed a person for 1 year. Obtain sago starch from nonflowering palms. To extract the edible sage, cut away the bark lengthwise from one half of the trunk, and pound the soft, whitish inner part (pith) as fine as possible. Knead the pith in water and strain it through a coarse cloth into a container. The fine, white sago will settle in the container. Once the sago settles, it is ready for use. Squeeze off the excess water and let it dry. Cook it as pancakes or oatmeal. Two kilograms of sago is the nutritional equivalent of 1.5
kilograms of rice. The upper part of the trunk's core does not yield sage, but you can roast it in lumps over a fire. You can also eat the young sago nuts and the growing shoots or palm cabbage.
From 1980 to 2000, the Philippines’ annual growth in the production of rice averaged at only 1.9%. This, according to a bulletin published by the Senate Economic Planning Office, is well below the country’s yearly population growth rate of 2.4%.
Apparently, the country needs to look for more food crops that will sustain its people’s carbohydrate diet. The most likely candidates are cassava, camote (sweet potato), and sago—all popular starch-rich resources. Moreover, cassava and sago are inexpensive and less agriculturally intensive.
However, Prof. Dulce M. Flores of UP Mindanao Department of Food Science says that of these food crops, sago is the most underutilized despite its potential for diversification into high value products, such as food ingredients and industrial raw materials. Also, while cassava and camote are ubiquitous mainstays in markets, sago is not. This comes as a surprise because sago is a high-yielding crop, which means it grows in abundance and thrives even in waterlogged acidic soils where only very few plants survive.
In her research, “Utilizing the Indigenous Plant Starch Sources in Mindanao: Sago Palm,” Flores looked into the possibilities of tapping sago as a major agricultural product. She went to Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Lupon, Davao Oriental, and Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur for samplings of sago wild stands. In Southern Mindanao, she interviewed locals and confirmed sightings of the same sago variety. She also took samples from Cebu to determine whether geographic location affects the morphological characteristics of sago. Indeed, sago is popular among the rural inhabitants of the South, particularly Muslims and Manobos.
Flores points out that the natives have a crude way of extracting the starch content of sago. In Cebu Island, for example, they strip and sun-dry the sago trunk. Then they pulverize the dried strips and cook the powder. Mindanao natives just scrape the trunk after splitting it in half. It was observed, however, that the sago palm is more of a roofing material than a food source for the natives. “There has been rampant cutting of this wild plant [sago palm] for roofing purposes and also to give way for other high value cash crops like rice and oil palm,” laments Flores. “If [this practice] continues, the Philippines is in danger of losing a ‘miracle plant’ that we hope will feed [its] exploding population.”
To save sago from extinction, she suggests the development of a technology that will enable the maximization of the plant’s benefits. In Malaysia, she says, plantations produce an average of 50 tons of refined sago starch per day because they employ machine-operated extraction. They export their produce to the United States, Japan, and Europe. The Malaysian government has also allotted 80,000 hectares for sago plantations. “[In a few years,] the plantations will be ready for harvest,” she points out. “The biotechnology must be developed now [so we can make the most of] this huge supply of starch source.”
Flores is also pushing for UP Mindanao to become the Center for Sago Conservation and Utilization. The Center will lead academic institutions in the research development of sago culture and propagation, national inventory and protection of wild stands, and better utilization

Themed restaurants are everywhere these days.
There are Rock n' Roll themed ones, restaurants where you can eat while sitting on beds, and even bars made completely of ice. But Taiwan has taken novelty restaurants to a whole new level. Welcome to Marton, the world's first toilet themed restaurant! Marton means toilet in Chinese and in this restaurant you literally sit on toilet seats and eat out of miniature toilet shaped bowls (both the Asian squat-style and the traditional Western variety toilets).
The restaurant is the first of its kind and only exists in Taiwan. The creator of the restaurant used to be a street vendor. He sold ice-cream in a special plastic toilet cup holder which he designed himself. He decided to take this idea one step further and so the toilet restaurant was born. The restaurants use ceramic toilet bowls/dishes to serve a range of meals. Apparently he was inspired by a comic book character who would put crap on crackers. No joke! This comic is popular with the young kids in Taiwan!
The creator has now patented the idea and opened up several more branches around Taiwan. So if you ever thought the world was going down the toilet, now you have proof! The restaurants attract a range of customers but it is especially popular with young people and families with kids. Apparently it's not all just about novelty value and the restaurant gets many repeat guests. As a result it has introduced a loyalty program so you can collect credit on multiple visits and then receive a big toilet shaped bowl. These are also sold separately so you can take home a ceramic toilet bowl with you!
Food is either served in a flat bowl that resembles a male urinal; larger main meals are served in a toilet bowl. Noodles or rice are served in a bathtub shaped bowl. Some of the most popular meals are curry noodles or rice because of their resemblance to....well....you know! Chocolate ice-cream is popular for the same reason.

It looks a little like a pig's snout, but a new state-of-the-art drowning detection system will give lifeguards an important third eye when looking after the nation's swimmers.
In a first for Australia, and for the southern hemisphere, the $300,000 Poseidon system has been installed in the Blacktown Leisure Centre in western Sydney.
The system uses a network of pig-snout like cameras above and below the water, and computer software, to analyse the movements of all swimmers in a pool.
It gives an audible alarm when a swimmer is judged to be in trouble, alerting lifeguards in as little as 10 seconds.
Developed in France in 2000, the system has for years protected lives in Europe and North America.
At the launch NSW Emergency Services Minister Nathan Rees said the Poseidon would give lifesavers a valuable "third eye".
Three people drown in large public pools each year in Australia, he said.
"In western Sydney we have at this pool one million people using it each year and on hot days these pools get extremely busy," he said.
"It's beyond the capabilities of almost any lifeguard to keep an eye on a thousand people in a swimming pool.
"This device enables lifeguards to be alerted when someone has stopped moving or is in difficulty. It will save lives."
The Poseidon system has been funded by Blacktown City Council and the Royal Lifesaving Society.
Mr Rees said there were no plans as yet to install the system in other pools across NSW, but said he had no doubt that "over time this will be rolled (out) across Sydney and NSW and the rest of Australia".
Asked if the $300,000 price tag was worth it, given that only three people die each year in Australian public pools, Mr Rees said "My oath it is worth it".
"$300,000 is a one off investment, that over time will save lives," he said.
"And you cannot put a price on a life."

Eye-Fi Inc., a company dedicated to helping people navigate, nurture and share their digital memories, today unveiled the Eye-Fi Card -- the world's first wireless SD memory card for digital cameras. The Eye-Fi Card uses home Wi-Fi networks to create an effortless and convenient way for users to send photographs directly from digital cameras to PCs, Macs and online photo and social networking sites. See release entitled "Eye-Fi Announces Support from Seventeen Online Photo Destinations." Priced at $99.99 with 2GB of storage, the Eye-Fi Card is available now from major online retailers.
"Digital cameras have made it extremely easy to take pictures, but the rest of the process is a hassle," said Jef Holove, chief executive officer of Eye-Fi. "The Eye-Fi Card removes the barriers and lets users get to the fun part of sharing and printing their memories. We are putting the magic back into photography."
Eye-Fi uses home wireless networks to eliminate the time-consuming chore of dealing with cables, card readers or software plug-ins associated with uploading photos. Users simply turn on their digital camera and their pictures are wirelessly uploaded. The Eye-Fi Card works with existing and new SD-compatible digital cameras and stores photos like a conventional SD memory card.
"We know that a large percent of digital images captured each day are never printed or shared. That adds up to significant lost revenues for photo sharing and printing sites," said IDC analyst Ron Glaz. "We anticipate wireless cameras will fundamentally change the way people manage their digital photographs in the future and believe that the Eye-Fi Card will help drive these changes."
How the Eye-Fi Card Works
During a simple set-up process, users can select from among 17 popular online photo sharing, printing, social networking or blogging sites to share their photographs, and select where on their PC or Mac they want to archive their images. Once the set-up is complete, users can focus on taking pictures and sharing memories -- and not on the process of uploading photos from their camera.
Eye-Fi's free upload service allows users to transfer an unlimited number of photos. It handles full-resolution JPEG pictures and intelligently resizes the images if required by the selected online destination.
"We are thrilled to be among the first to sell the Eye-Fi Card and we expect it to be a big hit for the holidays," said Aaron Maguire of Buy.com. "Eye-Fi understands how time-starved our customers are, and this solution matches their needs."
The 2GB wireless SD memory card, which holds approximately 1,000 images, is available now at major online retailers including Amazon.com, Buy.com and Walmart.com for $99.99 USD. It's also available from the online stores of J&R, B&H Photo Video, dotPhoto and Photojojo. For more information, please visit http://www.eye.fi/.

Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
UPDATE: The McCain campaign is now saying Obama called Palin a pig, which he didn't. The Obama campaign notes that "lipstick on a pig" is a fairly common idiom Obama often uses, as in a recent Washington Post interview. McCain has also used the phrase.
Though on a day when Obama's surrogates were joking that Palin's record can't be concealed with lipstick, it was hard for those following the campaign not to hear the echo.
UPDATE: Obama aide Anita Dunn responds to the McCain campaign's claim that Obama compared Palin to a pig:
Enough is enough. The McCain campaign’s attack tonight is a pathetic attempt to play the gender card about the use of a common analogy – the same analogy that Senator McCain himself used about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health care plan just last year. This phony lecture on gender sensitivity is the height of cynicism and lays bare the increasingly dishonorable campaign John McCain has chosen to run.

Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv star in "Fringe" tonight at 8 on Fox. It begins with a plane crash. (MCT / September 7, 2008)
J.J. Abrams' new series, " Fringe" (Fox, 8 p.m.), begins like his " Lost," with an opening airline tragedy setting the stage for the rest of the series. But the premiere drags on more like "Alias," with Anna Torv portraying the female agent trying to crack the mysteries of the dead plane, whose inhabitants' skin has melted off.
She works with a discredited scientist whose first idea is to cook up LSD. Hoping to grow a feverish fan base like that of "Lost," they drop all kinds of clues, visual and otherwise, in a manner that seems forced. Still, this may represent the best the fall has to offer.
Tonight's other premiere, "Privileged" (The CW, 9 p.m.) is yet another show about teens in the realm of the super-rich. This one is set in Palm Beach, where the super-quirky Megan (JoAnna Garcia of "Reba") has been hired to tutor a couple of the most spoiled brats. Meant to complement the new "90210" (The CW, 8 p.m.), it's more likely to be overshadowed by it.
Remote Patrol
With conventions over, the next big thing on the political calendar is the debates. To prepare, frequent moderator Jim Lehrer looks back on highlights from past debates. "Debating Our Destiny II" (CPTV, 9 p.m.) updates the original 2000 show that covered debates back to 1976, with new interviews from all but one of those involved in the last two cycles of debates. There's too much to cover in an hour, and it goes by quite quickly.
Denis Leary hosts the fifth "Fashion Rocks" ( CBS, 9 p.m.), taped Friday at Radio City Music Hall, featuring Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Lil' Wayne, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Chris Brown and Lynyrd Skynrd in various duets.
The most annoying collection of people on TV today is, without a doubt, the stylist and staff of "The Rachel Zoe Project" (Bravo, 11 p.m.), the newest in the network's effort, after "Flipping Out" and "Million Dollar Listing," to present America's most off-putting people.
BET's first scripted show is a fresh take on the black sitcom, with a singular point of view. A comic named Hadjii wrote, produces and stars in "Somebodies" (BET, 10:30 p.m.). It's worth watching.
Susan Koch does a splendid job covering the sport and the social issues surrounding the Homeless World Cup soccer tournament in her compelling documentary "Kicking It" (ESPN2, 9 p.m.), narrated by Colin Farrell.
